6 apps for LinkedIn video that is not TikTok
LinkedIn, Descript, Canva, Versely, HeyGen, and CapCut make work video. Square or 16:9. Captions. Do not post a jump-cut TikTok.
LinkedIn will play a 9:16 file. That does not make it a good LinkedIn video. LinkedIn Help on sharing videos (read 20 September 2026) sets native uploads at 5 GB max, 75 KB min, 15 minutes max, 3 seconds min on desktop and 2 seconds on the mobile app, resolution 256x144 to 4096x2304, aspect 1:2.4 to 2.4:1, 10 to 60 fps. Auto captions exist in 10 languages. The share box is the camera you already have. This page is six apps for a work clip that should not look like a For You skip. LinkedIn native is the upload and the captions. Descript is the transcript edit if someone talked. Canva is the 1:1 or 16:9 brand frame. Versely is motion from a product still, not a finger-snap. HeyGen is a talking head if nobody will go on camera. CapCut is a timeline you must strip of TikTok habits. This is not "best AI video 2026." It is a list for a feed that still has a desktop.
If the only idea is a jump cut to a trending sound, post it on TikTok. LinkedIn will show it to people who hire you.
What "not TikTok" means at work
Desktop still matters. A 9:16 clip on a laptop is a postage stamp. Square (1:1) and landscape (16:9) fill the feed on a monitor. 4:5 is a mobile-first compromise. LinkedIn's own range allows all of them. Pick the screen your buyers use.
Length is not a 12-second gag. Fifteen minutes is the native ceiling. Thirty minutes is the video ads ceiling (read 20 September 2026), with a 500 MB ad file cap, which is a different product. Organic posts are the 15 minute / 5 GB sheet. Most useful work clips are 30 seconds to 3 minutes. A 6 second orbit can work as a product flash. A 6 second dance will look like you posted in the wrong app.
Captions are not optional. LinkedIn auto-captions 10 languages and will take a caption file. Mute autoplay still happens at work, in an open plan, with the sound off. Burn a transcript if the words are the point.
Safe zones: LinkedIn Help says keep key elements off the edges so the UI does not cover them. That is a quieter overlay than TikTok's right rail, and it still eats logos you hug to the border.
A synthetic presenter is a disclosure, not a fake customer. Do not generate a testimonial.
The six apps
1. LinkedIn. Start here for the last mile. Share box, drag and drop, thumbnail picker, auto captions, visibility controls. Video sharing troubleshooting repeats the same file sheet. Stay in the app when the clip already exists and you only needed captions and a thumbnail. LinkedIn is not an editor. The mobile flow will trim, add stickers, and add text. That is enough for a phone take. It is not Descript. It is not a generator. If you already have a 16:9 talking head, stop. Upload it. Turn captions on. Write the post text like a person, not like a hashtag stack.
2. Descript. Open Descript when someone at the company actually talked. You edit the video by editing the transcript. Silence comes out. Studio Sound cleans the HVAC. Short clips can be pulled from the same eight-minute ramble. Independent 2026 comparisons (AI Hustle Guy, 9 July 2026) put paid Descript around $16 a month on annual Hobbyist-class plans, with a free tier of about 60 media minutes. Confirm the live Descript page before you pay. Descript is the wrong app if nobody recorded. It is the right app if the founder sat down and you need a 90-second clip that does not sound like a TikTok. CapCut can cut that footage too. Descript is faster when the footage is mostly speech.
3. Canva. Open Canva when the clip has to wear the brand kit on a 1920x1080 or 1080x1080 canvas. Canva's pricing page (read 20 September 2026) lists Pro at $144 a year where USD is published. Independent 2026 AI-table reads (The Rundown, 29 August 2026; Moda, 9 September 2026) give Pro up to 2,000 Standard, 200 Premium, or 20 Ultra AI uses a month. Image-to-video is Premium. High-quality video is Ultra. A weekly thought-leadership clip does not need Ultra. It needs the lower-third, the end card, and type you can still edit. Use Canva to frame a talking head you shot, or to hold a product still that Versely already moved. Do not generate a 9:16 jump-cut in Canva and post it as "culture."
4. Versely. Versely sits here because a lot of company pages have a packshot and no editor, and because the wrong Versely click is how a LinkedIn video becomes a TikTok. Skip Finger Snap on a company Page. Skip Mugshot. Skip MJ Dance. Those one-taps are real, and they are the wrong tone for a feed where your buyer is between meetings. The honest Versely job on LinkedIn is the still that should move a little: the AI video generator with Hailuo 2.3 Fast at 12 credits for 6s discounted (23 full) and 23 for 10s (45 full). Then burn a sentence on the AI caption generator, not a karaoke stack. Versely is not Descript. It will not cut the founder's ramble. It is not HeyGen. It will not say the hours. It is the app when the product photo is the only asset and you want a 6s or 10s orbit that you will then place on a 1:1 Canva end card.
5. HeyGen. Open HeyGen when nobody will go on camera and the week still needs a face saying the shipping cutoff. Avatar, script, a language pass. Versely also runs HeyGen Avatar V5 as a catalog row: 8 credits a second, 40 minimum, 960 maximum. That is not a HeyGen seat. The HeyGen subscription is the vendor app with avatars, templates, and a seat price you should read on HeyGen's own pricing page the day you buy. This list only needs the job: a presenter when the real presenter refuses. Disclose it. Do not use an avatar as a customer quote. Do not lip-sync a person who did not agree.
6. CapCut. Open CapCut when you have footage and you do not want Descript's transcript, or when you need to recrop a 9:16 take into 1:1. CapCut is a fine editor. It is also how TikTok habits sneak onto LinkedIn: big bottom captions, trending sounds, jump cuts every 400 milliseconds. Use the timeline. Mute the sound library. Caption in a size that reads on a laptop. Export 1080p. CapCut's image-to-video will animate a still if you did not shoot. That still should look like a product, not a meme. Free is usable. You leave CapCut when the job was speech (Descript) or a brand end card (Canva).
How to pick a work clip
Write the post in one sentence, then pick.
- "We already have the MP4": LinkedIn. Captions on. Thumbnail. Post text that is not a caption stack.
- "The founder recorded eight minutes": Descript.
- "It has to match the deck": Canva, 16:9 or 1:1.
- "We have one packshot and twenty minutes": Versely Hailuo, then Canva for the frame.
- "Nobody will talk on camera": HeyGen, with a disclosure, or skip the face and show the product.
- "We shot it on a phone in 9:16": CapCut, recrop to 1:1 or 4:5, strip the TikTok look.
Two apps is a company stack. LinkedIn plus Descript covers speech. LinkedIn plus Canva covers a branded still. Canva plus Versely covers a product flash. Six apps is a stack your social intern will mix up, and the mix-up is how Finger Snap lands on the company Page.
Keep type out of the safe area. LinkedIn's overlay is milder than TikTok's, and a logo on the border still dies.
Credits are not dollars on Versely. HeyGen's vendor seat is USD on HeyGen's page. Quote that as a vendor price, dated.
After auto captions
Watch the clip on a laptop, muted. If it only works full-screen on a phone, recrop.
Review LinkedIn's auto captions. Ten languages. Confidence gated. A caption file you wrote is better than a name it misspelled.
Do not paste a TikTok description. Write the first line as the actual point. Hashtags are optional and easy to overdo.
If the motion is generated, do not imply a factory tour. If the face is an avatar, say so.
When the asset is one packshot and the clip is a short orbit, sign up and run Hailuo. When the asset is a talking head you recorded, stay in Descript and LinkedIn. The list is six apps. The feed is work.
FAQ
Can I just cross-post my TikTok?
You can upload the file. LinkedIn's spec will take 9:16. The audience will still see a TikTok. Recrop, rewrite the post, replace the sound, and caption for mute-at-a-desk. If you are unwilling to do that, do not cross-post.
Why is Versely in the middle, not first?
Because LinkedIn, Descript, and Canva already cover upload, speech, and brand. Hailuo on a packshot is a real LinkedIn job. Finger Snap is not. If the week is a product still, Versely is the row. If the week is a founder talking, it is not.
Do I need HeyGen if I will show my face?
No. Shoot the face. Edit in Descript or CapCut. HeyGen is the skip-the-face tool. Using both is how you pay for an avatar you do not post.
