Versely has no free tier for generation. Every model call costs credits, quoted before it runs. The cost hub is the map of those formulas — per second, per thousand characters, per megapixel, per job. CSV to PDF is not on that map because it never touches a model. The work happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
A table is not a prompt
People paste a spreadsheet into an image model and ask for "a clean PDF of this table." That is a generate. It will invent columns, drop rows, and typeset numbers as texture. You will then screenshot the miss and call it a document.
The free tool is the other object:
- Lays the CSV out as a table.
- Repeats the header row at the top of each page.
- Switches wide sheets to landscape.
- Truncates cells that cannot fit on the page. The source CSV is unchanged.
That is a print of the file you already have. It is not a redesign. If you needed a designed one-pager with brand type and a hero still, that is an image job you should pay for after you decide the table is the wrong artefact.
Credits are for models
The cost pages exist because billing is not "one price per generate." A lipsync is per second. A voiceover is per characters. An image may be flat per call. Unused credits roll over while a subscription is active. None of that applies to CSV to PDF.
The tool is actually free — no account, no limit — because it costs nothing to run. Routing a spreadsheet through Seedream 5.0 Pro (7 credits flat, dense layouts) to "make it look like a table" is how you spend a layout model on a job the browser already finished. If the sheet is a shot list or SKU grid, convert it here for the PDF you attach in email. Then generate the clips on the rows that are actually models.
What the browser will not do
Forty columns. Past about 18 columns even landscape A4 is too tight. The tool will say so rather than emit unreadably small type. Split the columns, or print only the ones that have to be in the PDF.
Full Unicode. The table is drawn in Helvetica, which only encodes WinAnsi. Characters outside that set become question marks so the rest of the row still writes. If you need full Unicode, keep the CSV. A PDF with the standard 14 fonts cannot carry it.
Uploads, macros, .xls. Nothing is sent to a server. A .xls is the old binary format — re-save as CSV. This is also why it keeps working with the network off. Do not "fix" question marks by generating an infographic of the sheet. Fix the encoding, or keep the CSV.
File job, then studio job
Ask one question: does this file need a model? If no — CSV to PDF, in the browser, zero credits. Same family as the other free tools: Canvas, File API, or arithmetic, on the visitor's machine. If yes — you are designing a board or animating a SKU. That is cost. Pay it on purpose. A generate that outputs a rectangle of numbers is not a spreadsheet tool.
FAQ
Is CSV to PDF really zero credits on a paid plan too?
Yes. It never calls a model, so it never quotes a credit figure. Paid plans are for generation, editing, and the rest of the studio. This page is a local file convert.
Why not use Seedream to make a prettier table?
Because prettier is a new layout, not a convert. Seedream 5.0 Pro is a 7-credit image model for dense boards you do not have yet. If you already have the CSV, print it. If you need a designed stat card, lock the numbers in the sheet first, then generate a board from quoted strings — and expect to edit, not to treat the PDF tool as a designer.
Will my formulas calculate in the PDF?
CSV has no formulas. You are printing values. If you started in a spreadsheet, export the values you want seen. The PDF will not compute.
Can I send this PDF as proof of a generate?
No. It is a table of whatever you put in the CSV. It is not a render receipt. Cost and history for generates live with those jobs, not with a local print.
