Merge PDF concatenates several PDFs into one document in your browser. Page order follows the order you select the files. Pages are copied intact — text stays selectable, vectors stay vectors, and nothing is re-rendered or recompressed. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is sent to a model. There is no account gate and no generation meter. That is the product constraint for the whole free-tools shelf: Canvas, the File API, or arithmetic on the visitor's machine. A "merge" that quietly called a model would be a generate wearing a utility label.
Versely has no free tier for generation. Every model call costs credits. Browser utilities sidestep that because they cost nothing to run. Use this tool when the job is "bind these PDFs." Do not prompt a video or image model to "show me these files as one."
The engine is your machine
The files you choose are read into memory locally, copied there, and offered back as merged.pdf. Network off, it still works. That is also why it is actually free: no hardware of ours is in the loop. What it costs is the other book — credit formulas for per-second video, per-character voice, per-megapixel stills, caption burns, editor exports. Merge PDF is not in that book. If a job is in that book, it is not this tool.
Caps are for your tab, not for a server. PDFs up to 150 MB and 500 pages: rendering allocates about 25 MB per page at export resolution, which is what the page cap protects. A 40 MB warning is a courtesy, not a credit quote. Password-protected files fail at load — remove the password first. The protection is enforced by the format, not by this tool.
Do not paste pages into an AI video generator and ask for a "combined PDF video." You will spend a clip rate to invent a visualisation of a bind. You will not get selectable text. You will get a generate. The merge already concatenated the pages. That is the artefact.
Copy pages, do not re-render
This is a page copy, not a raster. Two files with identical words and different fonts stay different fonts. Images keep whatever compression they already had. The output is not re-encoded at all. That is why quality does not drop, and why "make it smaller while you merge" is a different job.
Document-level structures are the honest caveat. Page content transfers cleanly, but outlines, form field data, and annotations may not survive a merge. If a PDF has fillable fields whose values matter, flatten it before merging. Do not ask a model to "keep the form logic." That is not this tool, and it is not a generate you should buy for a bind.
Re-saving a PDF elsewhere re-rasterises fonts and recompresses images. That is not what this page does. If you needed a visual diff after the bind, that is a different free tool on the same shelf. If you needed a new page designed, that is a generate, and it will cost credits.
Credits are for the other tab
Caption burns, Hailuo takes, H3 plates, editor exports: those quote a credit figure before they charge. Merge PDF does not quote a figure because there is no charge. Mixing the two is how teams burn a model on a file job — "just screenshot the PDFs and generate a stitched deck." The stitch is the merge. Screenshot if you need a still for a ticket. Do not generate.
Honesty about which object you are in is the whole decision. Bind here. Generate on a row you chose, on purpose, at the quote you see before confirm.

Does Merge PDF use credits or a free-generation quota?
Neither. It never spends a credit. The work never leaves your browser. Generation on Versely is a different surface and always bills.
Are my PDFs uploaded to Versely?
No. The tool uses the File API on your machine. Nothing is sent to a server. Disconnect the network and it still runs.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as-is rather than rasterised, so text remains text, vectors remain vectors, and images keep whatever compression they already had.
Can I prompt a video model to animate the combined file instead?
You can waste the credits. You will not get this tool's concatenated pages. Animate a plate when the job is a plate. Bind PDFs here.
