Split PDF cuts one document into fixed-size parts in your browser. You choose how many pages each output file should hold. Set it to 1 to get every page as its own PDF. Download the parts individually or as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is sent to a model. There is no account gate and no generation meter. That is the product constraint for the whole free-tools shelf: Canvas, the File API, or arithmetic on the visitor's machine. A "split" that quietly called a chat completion, an OCR model, or Veo would be a generate wearing a utility label.
Versely has no free tier for generation. Every model call costs credits. Browser utilities sidestep that because they cost nothing to run. Use this tool when the job is "break this file into chunks." Do not prompt a video or image model to "show me this PDF as separate pages."
Split never leaves the tab
The file you choose is read into memory locally, copied there page by page, and offered back as new PDFs. Network off, it still works. That is also why it is actually free: no hardware of ours is in the loop. What it costs is the other book — credit formulas for per-second video, per-character voice, per-megapixel stills, caption burns, editor exports. Split PDF is not in that book. If a job is in that book, it is not this tool.
Pages are copied as pages, not rasterised into pictures a model could "understand." Text remains text. Vectors remain vectors. Images keep whatever compression they already had. You are not paying for a vision pass. You are chunking a file you already have.
Do not paste a deck into an AI video generator and ask for a "page-by-page split video." You will spend a clip rate to invent a visualisation of a document. You will not get even-sized PDFs. You will get a generate. The split already emits part-01.pdf and the rest. That is the artefact.
Pages per file is a number, not a prompt
The control is "pages per file." It is an integer, minimum 1. The tool walks the document in steps of that size and writes a new file for each chunk. It is the wrong tool if you needed pages 1–3, 7, and 12–14 as one file in that order. That is PDF page organiser: a range, not even chunks.
Fonts and embedded resources are duplicated into every part that references them. A 20-page document split into 20 files can total far more than the original. That is normal rather than a bug. Do not ask a model to "compress the split" as a substitute. Compression is a different job. This job is cutting.
Password-protected or unusual generators can fail in the tab with an error you can read. That is a file problem, not a credit problem. There is nothing to retry on a GPU.
Generation is a different book
Caption burns, Hailuo takes, H3 plates, editor exports: those quote a credit figure before they charge. Split PDF does not quote a figure because there is no charge. Mixing the two is how teams burn a model on a file job — "just screenshot the PDF and generate one clip per page." The per-page files are the parts. Screenshot if you need a still for a ticket. Do not generate.
If you needed a new page designed, that is a generate, and it will cost credits. If you needed a range extracted, that is organiser, also in-browser, also free. Honesty about which object you are in is the whole decision.

Are my PDFs uploaded to Versely?
No. The tool uses the Canvas and File APIs on your machine. Nothing is sent to a server. Disconnect the network and it still splits.
How do I extract just a few specific pages?
Splitting produces evenly sized chunks, which is the wrong tool for that. Use PDF page organiser — a range like 1-3, 7, 12-14, one PDF containing exactly those pages in that order.
Can I prompt a video model to animate the pages instead?
