Board games: the box still plus overlay rules, not Veo inventing cards

I2V box. Overlay type. A board-game clip that has to hold is the box you already photographed — logo, the illustrated cover a buyer will match on a shelf. Player count, age, and play time are type you typeset on top. They are not a deck Veo draws in the air. Video models redraw letterforms every frame. That is how a title becomes a different glyph at second four, and how a card the box never contained appears in a hand the model invented.
Lock the box. Stamp the spec. Do not let a cinematic generate print a second game.
The box art is the plate
The cover is the SKU. Colourway, character, edition banner. Text-to-video will invent a prettier box with melted type and a meeple that is not yours. That is a different product.
Seedance 2.5 Image to Video is the still-to-motion row: one locked frame into a continuous clip, four to thirty seconds, up to 720p, native audio, optional last frame. Image required. Prompt the camera — a slow orbit, a push to the player-count badge if that badge is already readable in the still. Do not prompt "cards flying, unique deck, rulebook pages turning." You asked a video model to typeset and to invent components.
If packing tape covers the title, reshoot. Do not ask motion to sharpen type that was never there. Keeping a physical SKU believable is the same check on a box as on a bottle: freeze, crop, read the title against the real wrap.
A last frame is allowed when you have a second approved still — box closed, then open on the real board. Interpolating to a generated tableau of cards is how the edition changes in the middle.
Rules are overlay type, not generated cards
Player count, age, play time — those strings have to match the box and the listing. A video model drawing them inside the cover or onto invented cards will miss a character. That is a false spec.
Add a text overlay is the job: one line you wrote, burned in, top / center / bottom. add_video_captions. Not a transcription. 2–4 players · 45 min is a caption. Font via list_caption_fonts if the house typeface matters. Position is required.
Several lines on a beat is timed overlays, add_timestamped_captions with start_sec / end_sec. Do not regenerate the box to "include the rules this time."
If the cover type in the photograph is already readable, you may not need overlay. If it is not, do not generate a sharper box. Overlay the spec.
On-screen text in generated video is why: a still has to be right once; a clip has to be right every frame. Overlay is composited, so it is.
Veo does not print a deck
A cinematic take of "the table after setup" with no box still is a generate of a game you do not sell. Hands dealing invented cards, a board with invented iconography — those are claims. Players who own the game notice first.
Motion belongs to the box: light on the varnish, a slight parallax. Components that must be exact are photographed, then I2V'd, or left out. Native audio is on. Write "no speech" or you get a voiceover explaining rules the overlay already states.
No third method. The box still, plus type you wrote.
FAQ
Can I I2V a photo of a real setup instead of the box?
Yes, if that setup is the real edition and you are not implying extra components. Overlay only the claims the photo does not already carry. Do not generate extra cards into the margins.
Why not prompt Veo to "keep the box art exact"?
You can lock a still and buy motion, and the small type will still drift. If the words are the listing, overlay them. If the illustration is the listing, I2V the box and keep the camera off the 6-point line.
Does a top-center overlay look fake on a turning box?
It looks like a caption if you treat it as a caption — player count, time, age. It looks wrong if you try to fake perspective on a card in motion. For that shot, photograph the real card. Overlay is for specs you cannot let the model invent.
Should I generate a rules explainer as a talking presenter holding the box?
That is a different row, and the box in their hands will drift unless you started from a still of the real box. Prefer the box plate, motion-only, overlay type. Do not pay a presenter generate to typeset the deck.
