Describe the clip you made; search_my_media will not remake it
Find something I made before is one agent job. search_my_media retrieves a past generation by subject. Regenerating because you lost the URL wastes credits.
"That video I made of…" — described, not remembered by ID. Find something I made before is search_my_media: meaning match over your past prompts for images, videos, music. Searching your library does not use generation credits. Regenerating the golden retriever because you could not remember the filename does. That is the whole leak.
Required: query. Optional type, since, before, model, limit. Complementary tools: a paginated recent list (fetch_user_generations), and browse_user_library for uploads, slideshows, and UGC overlays that are not AI generations. "Show me my recent generations" is a list. "Where's the slideshow I uploaded photos for last month?" is the library browse. "Find that golden retriever image from last week" is this job.
Retrieve, don't reroll
The output is the matching past file and its URL. It is not a new take in a "similar" mood. Similar is a generate. If the keeper is slightly wrong, edit or redo a previous generation is the tweak. Redo still bills. Search does not.
People remake because search feels like admitting they lost something. The agent matches subject, not exact keywords. Describe the bottle, the field, the week. If you keep losing keepers, save generations to a project with a real project name so the next hunt is a folder, not a vibe.
Do not search for something you never made. "Find me a stock drone over a lake" is not your history; that is a generate or a B-roll lookup. This tool only sees your media.
Match is over prompts, not over pixels. If you generated "golden retriever, wheat, sunset" and you search "the dog in the field last Tuesday," it can still hit. If you search "IMG_8841," it cannot. Name the subject you actually typed. Optional type narrows image vs video vs music when the same prompt family produced all three.
Uploads are a different shelf
Product photos you uploaded, reference stills, slideshows, UGC overlays — library browse, not generation search. Asking search_my_media for an upload is the wrong index. You will get a miss, then generate a stand-in of a photo you already had. That stand-in is a credit. The upload was free to find.
FAQ
Does search_my_media generate a replacement if it misses?
No. It returns matches. A miss means try a better description, browse recent, or look in the library. Generate is a conscious next job.
Why not just reroll? I remember the prompt.
Because the keeper already exists, with the seed and model you actually used. A reroll is a new roll. Search is free; the reroll is not.
Can I search by model or date?
Yes — optional model, since, before. Use them when "last week" is load-bearing.
Is this the same as a project folder?
No. Projects are how you file keepers on purpose. Search is how you recover by description when you did not file. Use both; do not substitute generate for either.
