Food halls: the stall sign is Ideogram or overlay

Do not hope Veo types the stall name.

A food hall is a wall of competing marks. Guests pick a stall by reading the fascia, the hall directory, and the chalkboard. Motion of steam and a queue is allowed. Guessed lettering on the awning is not. If the name has to survive a pause, set it in Ideogram or burn an overlay you typed. A cinematic take will redraw the mark every frame.

Guests read the fascia, not the vibe

Twelve tenants share a room. The directory, the Instagram geo, the printed map, and the painted board have to say the same string. "Bao & Co." becoming "Bão + Co" at second four is a lost walk-up, not a style. Faces can drift a little. The stall name cannot.

Two objects get mixed:

• Atmosphere. Steam, tongs, a ticket spike, a line. Text-to-video can invent that weather.
• The mark. The legal name on the lease. That string is Ideogram on a still, or overlay on a finished clip.

Do not put the mark in the motion prompt. "Exact stall name, spelled correctly, facing camera" is how you hire a video model as a font renderer. It will try. One bad frame is the frame the guest screenshots.

If the still of the fascia would not hang over the counter, stop. Motion will not rescue a sign you cannot read.

Ideogram V4 owns the permanent name

Ideogram V4 is the text-to-image row for posters, logos, and accurate text rendering. Six credits a call. Quote the stall name in the brief. Name the case and the line breaks. Do not fill the rest of the frame with extra words the lease does not use.

Generate an image from text is the agent door for that still. Proofread against the lease, the hall directory, and the menu PDF. A typo locked into a reference pack will be reproduced faithfully on every later take.

Use Ideogram when you do not have a photograph of the fascia — a new tenant, a rename, a night-market pop-up. If the real board is already on the phone, use the photo. A specialist still is for a missing sign, not for a "more cinematic" version of a board you already own.

Photoreal rows will give you letter-shaped noise that looks like a brand at feed size and collapses when paused. That is the wrong meter for a stall name. Six credits on Ideogram is the catalog figure for the specialist.

Overlay for hours and specials; captions only if someone spoke

The permanent name can live in the still. Hours, "sold out," today's laksa — those change. Add a text overlay burns one line you wrote, for the whole clip, at top, center, or bottom. It does not listen. Music, silence, kitchen noise — none of that rewrites the string.

A sequence of authored lines (name, then the special, then a CTA) is timed text overlays. That is still your copy, timestamped. It is not a second generate, and it is not a transcript.

Veo 3.1 is native audio, official 4K tier, 4 / 6 / 8 second clips. Keep it for a short cinematic hold of the counter when the fascia is already correct in the pixels, or when the plate is clean and the name will be stamped later. It is not a font engine.

FAQ

The chalkboard special changes every day. Is that Ideogram?

No. The permanent stall name is the Ideogram still, or a photo of the fascia. Daily specials are overlay — one authored line, or timed lines if they change inside the clip. Do not regenerate the awning to change the laksa.

Can a hall-map montage be one Veo take with every tenant named?

Not if those names have to be readable. Veo will approximate a wall of type. Build the map as a still with Ideogram (or a real directory photo), then move the camera, or overlay the names you already have in the lease file.

Will captions of a vendor shouting the stall name replace the fascia?

Only as a transcript of that shout, in the language spoken, with VEED's limits. The fascia still has to read. Overlay if nobody said the string. Caption if they did. Two jobs.

Do I Ideogram a stall we already photographed?

No. The photo is ground truth. Ideogram is for a board that does not exist yet. Treat a generated sign as a print proof until the real fascia is up.
