Ink captions sit on a black card for cinematic plates

Ink is Inter white type on a black rounded card. Same subtitle job as Paper, inverted: clean on dark grades, not a karaoke effect.

Burn-in is not a generate. You already have a plate. You already have speech, or you do not. Ink is a look applied when add captions to a video transcribes that speech and stamps the line. It does not invent a voice. It does not typeset a headline you never said. Pick the family because the grade is dark. Do not pick it because the preset page looked cinematic.

What the group actually is

Five presets, one family. kind is subtitle on every row: the whole line appears together, timed to the transcript. There is no effect field. No pop. No typewriter. That is Snap and Reveal, a different decision.

The base is Ink (black_box): fontId inter, fontcolor white, bgcolor black, position bottom. Description on the preset: white text on a black rounded card — clean and cinematic. Judge the family here. The other four only move colour, corner, or slot:

• Ink Square (ink_square): same Inter, same white on black, borderRadius 0. Square corners. Bottom.
• Ink Sheer (ink_sheer): card at #000000B3 — the group's 70% translucent black. Bottom.
• Ink Navy (ink_navy): card #0F172A, deep navy instead of flat black. Bottom.
• Ink Top (ink_top): same black card, position top.

Font does not change. Weight does not change. You are not shopping a second typeface inside Ink. Inter is a caption/overlay face on this stack. It is not an image model, and it is not a generate.

This page is only the black card. The rest of the caption families are a different job.

Paper is the invert, not a twin karaoke

Paper (white_box) is the same job with the lights flipped: Montserrat, black type, white rounded card, bottom. Maximum readability on light or busy-bright plates. Ink is the dark-grade version of that card. Both are subtitle families. Neither is word-timed.

Do not "upgrade" Ink to Snap because the cut is a trailer. Snap (kind timed, effect pop, Anton) scales and recolours each spoken word. Reveal (kind timed, effect typewriter) builds the line token by token. Those change how the file is read. Ink does not. A cinematic plate with a slow VO wants a block on a card, not a karaoke bounce on the hero.

If the plate is light — a white table, a blown window — Ink's black card is a hole in the frame. Use Paper. If the plate is a graded night interior, a dark product loop, a travel hold, Ink is the card that does not flash white. That is the whole invert.

Sheer is not a second family. It is Ink with a see-through card so a dark grade still shows through the type. Navy is still Ink: white Inter, bottom, a colder card. Square is still Ink: the radius went to zero. Top is still Ink: the slot moved. House style is one of those five, held. Switching to Halo mid-series because a shot went outdoors throws away the recognition the card was buying.

Burn-in is finishing, not a model row

Add captions to a video is add_veed_captions: speech in, styled subtitles out. BASIC looks at the standard rate; DYNAMIC karaoke-style VEED presets cost double. Ink in the caption-styles catalogue is a subtitle family for that burn, not a VEED Dynamic effect you invent in the prompt.

Accuracy follows the audio. Overlapping talk and a loud score will smear the transcript. Preview a few seconds (preview_caption_style) before you pay for the whole file. Language matches what was spoken; this tool does not translate.

If nobody spoke, you are on the wrong tool. A seating line, a SKU, a CTA you wrote is a text overlay: one authored string, whole clip. Overlay does not listen. Captions do not author. Asking a video model to "put white type on a black box in the shot" is a generate of misspelled letters you cannot edit. Generate the plate. Burn Ink after.

Do not caption a miss to "see the look." You will typeset a take you will replace, and the card will sit on a different frame after the crop.

Pick the variant after the grade, not before the generate

Order:

1. Lock picture and crop. Dark grade stays dark.
2. Confirm there is speech you want on screen. If not, overlay.
3. Open the Ink group. Start at black_box.
4. Move only if the base fights the plate: top if the lower third is product, sheer if the card is a brick, navy if black crushes the grade, square if the brand already killed radii.

That is finishing. It is not a reason to regenerate the plate "with cinematic captions." The model will not typeset Inter. It will draw a cousin of a subtitle and bake it into pixels.

Is Ink a karaoke / word-timed family?

No. kind is subtitle on all five presets. The line arrives as a block. Word-timed families are Snap and Reveal. Ink on a trailer VO is still a card, not a pop.

How is Ink different from Paper?

Same subtitle job, inverted card. Ink is Inter, white on black (or navy / sheer). Paper is Montserrat, black on white. Dark grades take Ink. Light or tutorial plates take Paper. Neither is a generate.

Can I use Ink if the clip is silent?

Not as captions. Captions transcribe speech. A silent cinematic plate wants an authored overlay if you need a line, or no type. Burning Ink on silence is a transcript of nothing.

Does picking Ink spend a video generate?

No. Burn-in styles the transcript on a file you already have. Regenerating the scene so the model "draws captions" is a generate, and the letters will be wrong.
