    /free-tools/pdf-to-images never spends a credit. Do not pay a model to do an in-browser file job. Every page of a PDF rendered to PNG or JPG at a resolution you pick is pdf.js and Canvas on your machine. It is not Seedream, not Veo, not a reason to open the generator.

    Versely has no free tier for generation. Every model call costs credits, quoted before it runs. The cost hub is the map of those formulas — per second, per thousand characters, per megapixel, per job. PDF to Images is not on that map because it never touches a model. The work happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

    Raster, not a prompt

    People paste a deck into an image model and ask for "a PNG of each slide." That is a generate. It will restage the layout, drop a logo, and typeset the headline as texture. You will then screenshot the miss and call it a storyboard.

    The free tool is the other object:

    • Renders each page at a scale you pick (72 DPI through 288 DPI on a 1–4 slider; the readout is scale × 72).
    • Default is scale 2 — 144 DPI — enough for on-screen review.
    • Exports PNG or JPEG. JPEG fills white first, because JPEG has no alpha and an unpainted canvas encodes black.
    • Names files page-001.png (or .jpg) and offers Download all as ZIP.
    • PDFs up to 150 MB and 500 pages. Rendering allocates about 25 MB per page at export resolution, which is what the page cap protects.

    That is a print of the file you already have. It is not a redesign. The practical use for video work is turning a deck or storyboard into frames you can feed a model as conditioning images — after the raster, on purpose.

    144 DPI is enough for review. 216 DPI or higher is worth it when the page has small type you need to stay legible, or when the image is going to be used as a video frame rather than a thumbnail. Every step up multiplies memory use, which is why the slider stops where it does.

    Credits belong to models, not to pages

    The cost pages exist because billing is not "one price per generate." A lipsync is metered by the second. A voiceover is metered by characters. An image may be flat per call. None of that arithmetic applies here.

    The tool's own free FAQ is the product rule: actually free, no account, no limit, because it costs nothing to run. Routing a twelve-page deck through an image row to "make slides" is how you spend a layout model on a job the browser already finished.

    Network off, it still works. The file is read into memory locally, rasterised there, and offered back as a download. Same architecture as the rest of free tools: Canvas, the File API, or arithmetic, on the visitor's machine. JPEG gets a white fill first so transparent pages do not encode as black.

    The generate is the frame you feed later

    Ask one question: does this file need a model?

    If no — PDF to Images, in the browser, zero credits. If you needed selectable text rather than pictures of pages, that is PDF to Text, also in-browser, also zero credits. A scan has no text layer; this raster tool is what you wanted all along.

    If yes — you are no longer converting a document. Raster the pages here. Then, if a page must move, image-to-video the locked PNG. Do not prompt Veo to "show this PDF." You will spend a clip rate to invent a visualisation of a deck.

    FAQ

    Is PDF to Images really zero credits on a paid plan too?

    Yes. It never calls a model, so it never quotes a credit figure. Paid plans are for generation, editing, and the rest of the studio. This page is a local raster.

    Are my PDFs uploaded to Versely?

    No. The tool uses pdf.js and Canvas on your machine. Nothing is sent to a server. That is also why it keeps working with the network off.

    What resolution should I pick for a video frame?

    144 DPI is enough for review. 216 DPI or higher when small type has to stay legible, or when the image is going to be used as a video frame rather than a thumbnail. The slider stops at 288 DPI because memory, not credits.

    Can I prompt a video model to "turn this PDF into a reel" instead?

    You can waste the credits. You will not get this tool's pages. Raster here. Animate a locked frame when the job is a plate.
