Pay VEED's animation tier only when karaoke timing is the job

Versely burns captions with VEED, and VEED has two credit tiers. Basic is 1×. Dynamic is 2×. Dynamic presets animate — Glass, Whisper, Fusion, Glide, Terminal, Handwritten, Backdrop. Basic presets sit still enough to become furniture: Simple, Plain, Corpo, Beans, Hustle. Pick the tier for the job, then lock the preset. Do not shop a new look every episode, and do not pin a Dynamic preset as the brand default unless you mean to double the caption line on every clip after it.

The clips on this page are the in-app Caption Studio examples: one spoken line, ten VEED presets. Dynamic first, then Basic. That rail is the comparison. It is not a second catalogue.

There is a second catalogue. Caption styles is nine families of five — Classic, Paper, Ink, Halo, Hype, Signature, Headline, Snap, Reveal. Those 45 presets are the type system documented on this site. VEED Basic/Dynamic is what add captions actually burns in the studio today. They are not the same list. Classic is not Corpo. Snap is not Glass. Say both exist, then pick the one the tool in front of you is using.

What the 2× is buying

Dynamic is paying for motion in the type. The active word punches, the line glides, the plate behind the letters behaves. That is useful when the first seconds are the words: a hook, a punchline, a confession the silent feed has to read as an event. It is the karaoke-shaped half of VEED. It also inherits karaoke's rule — clean audio first — because an animated highlight on a late transcript looks broken.

Basic is paying for a readable block. Weight, stroke, position. No word-timed theatre. That is the brand-lock family: after three episodes the viewer should recognise the account from the caption before they recognise the room. Burn-in before you post is the performance case. Basic is how you do that without spending 2× to animate a tutorial that should recede.

The 2× compounds. A brand kit that saves Glass as default does not charge you at save time. Every later caption render does. That is the only reason this tier exists as a decision rather than as a taste poll.

Pick the tier, then stop

The mistake is treating 30 looks as a buffet.

1. Decide whether type is the hook or the transcript. Hook → one Dynamic preset. Transcript → one Basic preset.
2. Preview on five seconds of the real file, not on the demo rail. preview_caption_style exists so you do not buy a full-length Dynamic render to discover Glass dies on a white kitchen.
3. Lock that preset on the series. Variants of position (top vs bottom) are how you dodge chrome and mouths. Switching Fusion for Handwritten on Thursday is a new show.
4. Do not run Dynamic on a 12-minute VO unless you like paying 2× for an animation nobody can watch at that length.

If you also design against the 45-family catalogue for sidecars, decks, or a future renderer, keep a map: "series furniture = Classic Yellow in the catalogue, Simple in VEED." Do not tell a designer to "use Paper" and then burn Beans. The names will not survive the handoff.

What not to confuse

Retired in-house dynamic captions. add_dynamic_captions is gone. "Dynamic" in the studio now means the VEED premium tier, not the old engine. If a doc still says to call the in-house captioner, it is wrong.

Language. VEED transcribes 165 language codes. It does not translate. A Spanish VO gets Spanish captions. Dub first if you need another language, then caption the dubbed file.

Burn-in vs sidecar. VEED burn-in is what a muted feed sees. SRT/VTT is what a player can restyle. You can export both. You cannot substitute TikTok's auto-captions for either.

Brand kit. Saving a kit is free. The preset you save is the meter. If the client bought "captions on everything" at Basic math, do not standardise on Whisper.

A default that will not embarrass you

Talking-head series, founder clips, most UGC bodies: Simple or Corpo, bottom or top depending on the mouth, locked. Spend the 2× on the three-second open if the open is a separate hook file — a branded hook pack already burns a line; do not also run Glass on top of it for those seconds.

Ad hooks and high-retention shorts: one Dynamic preset for the campaign, previewed on the darkest and brightest shots, then left alone. Glass is the default people reach for because it is the first example. That is not a reason. Preview two, pick one.

The rail on this page is the cheapest way to see the tier split. Then preview on your footage. Then lock.

If a series already has a Basic look in market, do not "upgrade" it to Dynamic because a new campaign wants energy. Energy is a hook file, or a cut, or a line. It is not a caption tier. Changing the furniture to spend 2× is how you pay extra to look like a different account.

Are VEED Dynamic presets the same as Snap and Reveal?

No. Snap and Reveal live in the nine-family caption-styles catalogue. VEED Dynamic is Glass, Whisper, Fusion, Glide, Glide 2, Terminal, Handwritten, Backdrop, Backdrop 2. Both tiers animate enough to need clean audio. The names, the renderer, and the credit meter are different.

Can I mix Basic and Dynamic inside one video?

You can. You usually should not. A Glass open into a Simple body is a reasonable split when the open is a separate hook file. Two Dynamic presets in one clip is noise. Switching every scene is a new identity every scene.

Does pinning Dynamic in the brand kit double every future caption?

Yes, for every clip that kit captions. The kit write is not a render. The renders it governs are. If most of the calendar is explainers, pin Basic and apply Dynamic by hand on the hooks.

How do I preview without paying for the whole video?

preview_caption_style trims the first few seconds of your file and burns that. Use it. The demo rail on this page shows the look, not the contrast against your kitchen.
