6 apps DTC brands use for launch week
Canva, Photoroom, CapCut, Versely, Runway, and HeyGen cover launch week. Pick by kit, stills, ads, one-tap, hero film, or avatar.
Launch week is seven days, not a campaign. You need a kit, a packshot, a paid cut, a founder clip, and a loop for the landing page, and you needed them yesterday. Six apps cover that week. Canva is the kit. Photoroom is the still. CapCut is the ad editor. Versely is a one-tap from a founder photo, or a cheap orbit of the SKU. Runway is the hero film if the shot has to look directed. HeyGen is the talking head if the founder will not sit down. This is a calendar list. It is not "best AI video for ecommerce 2026."
Hire a crew when the job is a 90-second brand film, a real customer you cannot fake, or a space that has to look directed. Use the six apps when the job is the seven days around cart-open.
What launch week video actually is
Write the week on a whiteboard before you open a tab.
D-7 to D-3: a branded countdown, a waitlist card, a still of the unit that is not a cousin of the unit. Canva and Photoroom.
D-2 to D-0: a 9:16 ad, a 4:5 for the grid, a landing loop that does not lie about the SKU. CapCut, Versely, maybe Runway.
D+1 to D+7: UGC you actually received, a founder FAQ, a restock line you can change without regenerating pixels. CapCut again. HeyGen only if the founder still will not talk.
A launch is also a claim. Price, date, inventory, a "sold out" sticker. Overlay those. Do not bake them into a generated still you will have to rerun on Tuesday.
Amazon MAIN, if you list there, is still a photograph. A generated orbit is a Gallery slot or a Reel. Google Merchant Center still wants IPTC trainedAlgorithmicMedia on generated stills in the feed.
The six apps
1. Canva. Launch kits usually already live here: colors, type, a 4:5, a story frame, a waitlist poster. US Pro is $18 a month on the Canva pricing page. Yearly totals disagreed in September 2026 (DailyFix, 19 September, about $144; Moda, 9 September, about $180). Pay what checkout shows. Image-to-video draws Premium AI. The sharper clips draw Ultra AI, and Pro's Ultra allowance is the small bucket (about 20 uses a month in those reads, shared). A launch that wants a branded motion post every day should count before it generates. SKU turns belong in CapCut, Versely, or Runway, then drop onto the template. Keep Canva as the frame.
2. Photoroom. Launch stills fail in the stockroom first. Photoroom on 19 September 2026 sold Pro at $12.99 a month or $7.50 yearly: cutouts, retouch, 8,000 credits, 1,000 exports, and no video generator. Max ($34.99, or $20.99 yearly) is the first plan with video (about 50 runs), Shopify sync, 25,000 credits, and 3,000 exports. Ultra ($99, or $82.50 yearly) is 75,000 credits, 10,000 exports, and about 150 video runs. Twelve SKUs on white is a Pro week. Twelve SKUs that also have to turn is Max, or Pro plus CapCut, or Pro plus Hailuo. Do not buy Max only because the homepage mentions video if CapCut will move a cutout you already have. Do not generate a bottle you do not ship.
3. CapCut. Launch ads usually need an editor more than they need a new generator. Phone unboxing, jump cuts, auto captions, 9:16. Free is enough for a week of paid tests. The desktop generator can still push a packshot into Seedance if you skipped Hailuo. ByteDance's 16 September 2026 Seedance 2.5 photo tutorial is the longer-pass write-up as that model rolls out. Keep CapCut when you have footage. Hand the file back to Photoroom when the still is dirty, or to Runway when the landing loop has to look directed. CapCut is not MAIN photography.
4. Versely. Versely sits here because launch week often has one founder photo and one locked packshot, and no time to write camera paragraphs. The founder photo becomes a named format. Mugshot is one photo, about 20 credits discounted (40 full). That is a joke post for the grid, not the hero ad. Do not run Mugshot on a carton. If the still is the product and you want a slow turn, run image-to-video on Hailuo 2.3 Fast: 12 discounted credits at 6 seconds (23 full), 23 discounted at 10 seconds (45 full). Versely will not splice a kitchen unboxing and will not become your MAIN pipeline. Use it when Thursday's freelancer is already booked and you have one approved still.
5. Runway. Open Runway when the launch has to look directed: a hero loop, a landing background, a paid 15-second that cannot look like a filter. Runway's pricing (read 20 September 2026, yearly toggle) is Free at 125 one-time credits, Standard $15 / $12 with 625 credits a month, Pro $35 / $28 with 2,250, Max $95 / $76 with 9,500 and one-month rollover. Unlimited Explore is gone. Gen-4.5 is 12 credits a second on that table, so Standard's 625 credits are about 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 before retries. Image-to-video is a first frame plus a prompt. Runway is a studio seat for people who already think in shots. It is a bad first app if you wanted a meme from a selfie and a caption. Standard and Pro monthly credits do not roll. Max rolls one month. If you needed one hero product film for the landing page, Runway can be the cinema layer on top of Photoroom stills. If you needed twelve listing clips, count the credits before you fall in love with the demo.
6. HeyGen. Use HeyGen only if the founder still will not sit down and the week still needs a mouth saying ship dates. HeyGen on 20 September 2026 priced Creator at $29 ($24 yearly) with 600 credits, Pro at $49 with 1,000 credits, Business at $149 plus $20 per extra seat. Free is three clips a month, each under a minute. Versely's catalog also has HeyGen Avatar V5 at 8 credits a second, floor 40, ceiling 960. That row is not the HeyGen workspace. Buy the vendor seat if you want their avatars and templates. Label the presenter as synthetic when the platform asks. Never cast an avatar as a customer. Never cast an avatar as an unboxing.
How to pick for seven days
One sentence per day. Then one app.
- Waitlist card on brand: Canva.
- Stockroom bag: Photoroom, then maybe motion.
- Phone unboxing: CapCut.
- Founder still, twenty minutes: Mugshot. Packshot: Hailuo.
- Landing loop that has to look directed: Runway, from a still you would print.
- Founder still silent: HeyGen with a disclosure, or skip the face and show the unit.
Canva plus CapCut is the usual launch pair. Photoroom plus Versely covers still-to-clip days. Runway is a hero, not a daily driver. HeyGen is only the skip-the-face tool. Six seats is what you cancel in November.
Two launches a year with a real film is still a crew. This week with small files is the six-app case.
After the cart opens
Mute buyers still need type. Burn captions in CapCut. Keep the price on a layer. "Launches Friday" does not belong inside generated letters.
Zoom the label after the motion pass. A misspelled shade crawls. Check the field color so off-white does not loop dirty on a white PDP.
A Mugshot is allowed to look like a Mugshot. A listing is not. Photograph inventory. Then move it.
When the still is approved and you need a turn or a one-tap, sign up and run the row. When you already have footage, stay in CapCut. Six apps. Seven days.
FAQ
Can these six replace a launch film?
Organic Reels and a landing loop, often. A paid brand film with a location, lights, and a real customer, no. The scramble goes away. The shoot you wanted does not.
Do I need HeyGen if the founder will show their face?
No. Record them. Cut in CapCut. HeyGen exists for the week nobody will sit down. Two talking-head tools is how you fund an avatar that never ships.
Why is Versely next to Runway and CapCut?
Still-to-clip is not "edit the phone file" and not "make a cinema loop." Mugshot is a joke post. Hailuo is a pack turn. Footage weeks can skip Versely. One-photo hours cannot.
