Checking social performance is your own numbers, not a trend search

get_social_analytics reads your connected accounts. It is not analyze_trend on someone else's post.

Checking social performance is your own numbers, not a trend search. "How am I doing?" — get the numbers and the takeaway. get_social_analytics returns engagement, views, likes, a platform breakdown, and top-performing posts for your connected accounts. get_content_insights (supporting) breaks recent posts down by platform and format, with averages, medians, and a best hour or day where timestamps allow. Using this job to explain someone else's viral is a different analysis, and running a generate because the dashboard "felt down" wastes credits on a creative you have not earned from the data.

Check my social media performance is the named capability. Checking analytics does not use generation credits. That is not permission to skip connecting an account, and it is not a second-by-second retention curve. Native platform graphs still own the retention plot.

    What this job actually is

You ask how posts are performing. You get totals and a platform split, including top posts. For strategy, you ask what format is working — image, video, carousel — on which platform. You use that before you plan next week's four, not after you have already generated them.

The useful output is which format of yours actually holds. It is not a screenshot of a dashboard. It is not a trending-hashtag list. It is not a reason to rebuild the channel in the same sitting.

    What wastes credits

The lookup is free. The reaction is where credits go.

Trend research in this row. Find what's trending on social searches a platform by keyword. Analyze a viral video or post scores a URL you paste. Your analytics will not tell you why a stranger's Reel hit. Asking "what's working on TikTok" without "on my account" is how you get the wrong tool or a generic sermon.

Generating a new format because one post dipped. One row is not a strategy. Insights need a handful of posts per format. A panic generate is a paid guess.

No connected accounts. Connect a social account is the prerequisite. Analytics on an empty roster is an empty report. Posting is also a different job: post or schedule to social media.

Using this as a retention diagnosis. Views and engagement are which clip to open in the native graph. They are not the graph. Do not ask the agent for a second-by-second curve it cannot return, then regenerate the hook on a hunch.

    The test

Are you asking about your posts on your connected accounts?

If yes, this is the job. Ask for the breakdown. Then decide whether a generate is even on the table.

If you are asking about the internet, search trends or analyze a URL. If you have not connected, connect. If you already know the format and you need a file, generate. This is one named agent job. Using it for a different job wastes credits — usually on the generate you launched instead of reading the sheet.

    FAQ

    Does this cost generation credits?

No. The analytics lookup does not. The video you generate because you skipped the lookup does.

Can it tell me the best time to post?

Where timestamps allow, content insights include a best posting hour or day from your recent posts. That is not a universal best-time blog post. If the account is new, there is not enough clock to trust.

Will it show retention by second?

No. Use this to pick which post is worth diagnosing. Open the platform's own retention curve for the shape of the drop.

Is a single post's stats this job?

You can pass a post_id for a focused read. A strategy call still wants the overview plus the format breakdown. Do not let one hero post, or one miss, pick next week's entire slate.
