DTF shops: mock stills are the listing

I2V after the mock is approved. A DTF listing is a specific transfer on a specific garment, not a vibe of a shirt. The mock still is the SKU. Motion is a second approval. Text-to-video of "a hoodie with our print" is how the art reflows and the cart file stops matching the clip.

Image-to-video keeps frame one as the file you sent. Prompt only the motion: a slow turn, a push-in on the print. Re-describing the design is how the model re-invents it.

The mock is the SKU

The customer is buying the art on a garment they can name. If the mock is wrong — scale, colourway, type that will not hold at print size — camera work will not make the listing honest. Fix the still. Approve it. Then buy motion.

Same contract as a pack shot: composition locked, identity locked, physics allowed. A drifted wordmark is a failed take.

Do not generate the garment from a sentence because you have not shot a sample. You can test a locked mock. You cannot sell a moving mock you have not signed. Print-on-demand sellers live next door: mockups first, physical sample before scale, no trademarked phrases or franchise faces. DTF shops are not POD stores. The listing logic is the same. The design is the risk. The motion is not the design.

Motion comes after the mock is signed

A short I2V pass is a listing video, not a new product. Keep the print large. Extreme angles on small type are how letters die first. Pause at 100% and read the art. If you cannot, neither can the buyer.

Some models interpolate first and last frame. Use that to land on a back-print still you already approved. Both stills must be the same SKU. A last frame of a different drop is a cut you have not admitted.

Most I2V rows meter credits per second. A five-second hold and a ten-second orbit are different spends, not different products. Animate for the length the marketplace plays.

Adjacent to print-on-demand, not a substitute

That /for page is merch-on-demand testing. A DTF shop with a gang sheet has a different week. Use the overlap (mock first, sample before scale, no stolen IP) and ignore the parts that assume you never hold inventory.

Product video is the other row when you have photographed the printed garment: two or three clean angles, then a scene around it. It is not a replacement for the mock still when the listing is the mock. Do not send generated mocks as "references." References are photographs of the thing. Takedowns in this category are automated. A clip of a franchise character you would not print is still that character.

What to leave still

Peel, press, the ink layer — those are texture jobs. Generated fabric is the first thing a printer's customer distrusts. Keep process footage real. I2V the approved mock for the product page or the Shorts hook.

If you are still iterating the art, you are in a stills tool. Paying video credits to discover the wordmark shifted is the expensive end doing the cheap job. Approve the mock. Then I2V.

Can I advertise a DTF design with a generated shirt before I print a sample?

You can test a locked mock as a concept. Do not scale sales on a garment you have not held — print quality and placement are the refunds. Do not advertise a moving shirt whose art the model is still inventing.

Why not text-to-video if I paste the design description?

Because text-to-video re-decides the garment and the art every take. The mock still is the cheap place to lock both. Image-to-video is how you stop paying video credits to find out the print moved.

Should the listing video be 9:16 or 1:1?

Generate the ratio the placement uses. A 9:16 upload animates 9:16; a 1:1 mock stays square. Send the right still instead of re-cropping after.

Is a last frame required?

Only when the shot has a destination that must match a second approved still — a turn that lands on the back print, a move from wide to the wordmark. A single approved mock with a camera move is the usual listing job.
