Omni 1.1 360p drafts are the cheap loop
Google says Omni 1.1 360p drafts are up to 60% faster and one-third the cost of 720p. Draft cheap, then upscale to 4K.
Omni 1.1 Flash’s cheap loop is 360p drafts, then a 1080p or 4K upscale of the keeper. Google’s 27 August 2026 Keyword post claims 360p previews are up to 60% faster and one-third the cost of Omni 1.1’s standard 720p, based on system throughput of 360p versus 720p. That is Google’s claim, dated, attributed. It is not a Versely credit table. Versely does not publish a gemini-omni-1-1-flash slug. The Omni rows we do publish are Gemini Omni Video (4–10s, 720p / 1080p / 4K, 9 credits) and Gemini Omni Flash Edit (video-to-video, 13 credits). Use 1.1’s 360p mode on Google’s surface when you are still hunting the take. Do not buy delivery resolution for a prompt you have not locked.
This page is only the draft-then-upscale loop. Scene extend, first-last, and the access map are other posts.
What 360p is for, and what it is not
360p on 1.1 is a working print. Google lists the jobs: rapid prototyping, storyboard iteration, quick rendering in developer platforms. The Keyword post even sketches a “Draft Room”: generate three or four 360p variations, change one variable at a time, compare side by side. That is the loop. You are not delivering 360p to a media buyer. You are deciding whether the camera move, the blocking, and the line are the ones you meant.
What 360p will tell you, even small:
- Did the subject do the verb?
- Did the camera move you named actually happen, or did the model invent a drift?
- Did identity survive the six seconds, or did the face melt at 0:04?
- Did the model add speech or music you did not ask for?
What 360p will not tell you:
- Whether the fabric holds at a 4K crop.
- Whether a label is legible on a phone in HDR.
- Whether the grain will survive a 9:16 recrop after upscale.
- Whether a buyer who asked for 4K will accept the upscale as “native 4K.”
Google is explicit that 1.1 can then upscale to 1080p or 4K. Upscale is the delivery step. Treat it as a second decision, not as a checkbox you tick on every draft. Four 360p misses plus one 4K keeper is the intended math. Four 720p misses plus a fifth 4K is the June habit 1.1 is pricing you out of.
The 60% / one-third figures are Google’s throughput comparison of 360p versus 720p on Omni 1.1, 27 August 2026. They are not Versely credits. They are not a promise that 360p is always 60% faster on your account, in your region, at 17:00. Quote them as Google’s claim. Do not convert them into a Versely SKU.
On Versely, Omni Video already lists 720p, 1080p, and 4K on a 4–10 second generate at 9 credits. That card does not advertise a 360p draft tier. If you needed 1.1’s cheap 360p preview, you are on AI Studio, Agent Platform, or Flow for that preview. Bring the keeper back. Caption it here.
Draft like a test, not like a film
Change one variable per 360p run. Google’s Draft Room example is the rule. If you change the lens, the wardrobe, the time of day, and the line in one pass, a miss teaches you nothing. You do not know which variable failed.
A workable 360p matrix for a six-second product turn:
- Locked still, locked prompt, camera: slow orbit.
- Same still, same prompt, camera: locked off.
- Same still, same prompt, camera: slow push.
- Winner of 1–3, one lighting change only.
Then stop. Upscale the winner. Do not upscale the matrix.
Write the prompt at delivery language even when the pixels are 360p. “Kinda orbit maybe” at 360p becomes an expensive 4K of the same mush. The draft is cheap. The brief should not be. Name the subject, the verb, the camera, the light, and the sound. If the file must be silent so you can score later, say “no speech, no music.” Omni will invent a bed if you leave a hole. Native audio is the term for sound born with the picture; treat a 360p Omni draft as a file that might already have a track.
Do not caption inside the draft. Captions are an editor pass. Add captions to video after the upscale, when the frame size is the one you will ship. 360p typesetting is a lie about safe area.
Do not extend a 360p draft to forty seconds. Omni 1.1 extend can see up to ten seconds of prior context and continue in ten-second steps to a forty-second cap. That control is for a keeper, not for a sketch. Extending a bad draft is how you get forty seconds of a decision you have not made. Lock at 360p, upscale, then extend if the story still needs length.
Do not confuse 360p with Hailuo cheap or Kling Turbo cheap. Those are different rows with different duration menus. Hailuo 2.3 Fast is a 6s / 10s image-to-video card at 28 credits. Kling 3 Turbo Text to Video is silent 3–15s at 12 credits, 1080p. 1.1’s 360p is a resolution tier on Google’s Omni 1.1 meter. Shopping “cheap video” across families by resolution adjective is how you land on a silent 1080p plate when you meant an Omni draft.
Upscale is a delivery decision
Google: generate polished 1080p or 4K outputs with Omni 1.1. That sentence is the second half of the loop. It is not “everything is 4K now.”
Pick 1080p when the ship target is a feed that will be recoded anyway: Reels, Shorts, TikTok. 4K as a source can still be useful for a center crop, but you are paying Google’s 4K upscale for headroom, not because the timeline is 4K. Pick 4K when the still-to-video plate must survive a zoom on a label, a paid placement that specified 4K, or a client who will fullscreen on a monitor. Google’s 4K here is an Omni 1.1 upscale, not Veo 3.1’s 4K generate tier at 40 credits, and not Kling Video V3 4K Text to Video at 210 credits. Three 4K doors. Read the row.
Upscale will not invent a better performance. If the 360p mouth missed the line, 4K is a sharper miss. If the orbit clipped the product, 4K is a sharper clip. Re-roll the draft. Then upscale.
If the 360p take is 90% right and the error is a prop or a color, consider whether an edit pass is cheaper than a new 4K. On Versely, Gemini Omni Flash Edit is the conversational retouch at 13 credits, audio off on that card. That is the June Omni skill: change the jacket, keep the blocking. It is not 1.1’s upscale. You can still use it on a file you brought back.
After upscale, the finishing stack is ordinary: crop, captions, disclosure. Article 50 does not care whether the pixels were 360p first. If you publish a realistic synthetic of a real person to an EU audience, label it. The copy is on the disclosure template.
A Versely week next to a 1.1 draft week
You will mix doors. That is fine if you name which meter you are on.
Hunting the take on 1.1. 360p drafts in AI Studio or Flow. One variable per run. No extend. No 4K. No captions.
Delivering an Omni-looking clip you already like. Upscale on 1.1 to 1080p or 4K, or generate on Gemini Omni Video at the listed 720p / 1080p / 4K if you are staying on Versely and 4–10 seconds is enough.
Retouching without a resample. Omni Flash Edit, 13 credits.
A different job that was never Omni. Talking cinematic: Veo 3.1. Native 30-second hold: Seedance 2.5. Silent cheap T2V: Kling 3 Turbo. The 360p loop does not replace those rows. It only stops you from buying Omni 720p while you think.
When the draft is the work, 360p is the work. When the file is the work, upscale or pick a delivery row. Google’s 60% / one-third sentence is permission to stop treating every generate as a master.
Open the AI video generator for the Omni rows we publish, or sign up and run Omni Video at a listed resolution instead of inventing a 360p SKU that is not in the catalog.
FAQ
Are 360p drafts 60% faster and one-third the cost on Versely?
Those figures are Google’s, 27 August 2026, for Omni 1.1 Flash 360p versus Omni 1.1 720p, based on system throughput. Versely does not publish a 1.1 360p row. Gemini Omni Video lists 720p / 1080p / 4K at 9 credits. Do not paste Google’s percentages onto that card.
Should I ship 360p?
No. 360p is the working print. Google’s delivery step on 1.1 is upscale to 1080p or 4K. Feed platforms will recode you anyway; that is not a reason to upload a 360p master.
Can I extend a 360p draft to 40 seconds, then upscale once?
You can try. You should not. Extend spends ten-second memory on whatever you feed it. Feed it a keeper. Draft at 360p, pick one, upscale, then extend if the story still needs length.
