TikTok reshape and trim wait until the source cut is locked
edit_video plus cut_video make a 9:16, scroll-length file. Doing both on a miss, or before picture lock, is a TikTok export of a take you will not post.
TikTok-ready usually means two jobs: 9:16, and shorter. edit_video reframes. cut_video (or the clips array in the same EDL) trims. Captions are a third bill on add_veed_captions. None of that is how you discover whether the take is good. A 30-second vertical export of a miss is a complete-looking file you will not upload.
Resize a video for TikTok is the job. Preview 480p is free with a cooldown. The charged export is the wrap. This tool does not post to TikTok. Publishing is a separate flow.
Length and frame are properties of a keeper
Trimming a long generate to "the first 30 seconds" only works if the first 30 are the piece. On a candidate, you do not know that. You will cut, crop, caption, watch it in a phone preview, hate the eyes, regen, and do all three finishes again.
Wide source loses the sides. Check the preview of the keeper before the final. If the product lives on the edge, 9:16 was a different generate, not a tighter panic crop of a miss.
Most TikTok viewing is muted. That is an argument for captions after the 9:16 trim, not before. A caption pass on the horizontal original will sit wrong and time wrong after the cut.
The UGC video generator can birth vertical talking ads. If that is the job, start there. This page is a wrap for footage that was not born for the platform.
Order
- Approve the take.
- Trim to the moment you will actually post (
cut_videoif you need precise ranges). - Reframe to 9:16. Preview.
- Caption on that file. Then publish elsewhere.
estimate_cost if you stacked trim + export + DYNAMIC captions. Stacking is fine on a keeper. Stacking on a maybe is a bundle of leaks.
FAQ
Can I skip the trim if the generate is already short?
Yes. Then this is mostly a reframe. Still after lock. A 6-second miss in 9:16 is still a miss.
Should I add a hook clip before resizing?
Hook packs and marketplace openers are their own later step. Front a hook on a locked body. Resizing a hook+body assembly of two maybes is two misses in one frame.
Why not caption the long horizontal and then cut?
Because you will slice cues in half and crop the safe zone. Cut and reframe, then caption.
Does preview:true post at 480p if I forget to export?
It gives you a 480p file. Do not upload that as the master because you were "just checking." Check, then export the keeper at the real setting.
