Do not generate knitters without consent. The yarn ad that has to hold is a skein you already photographed — fibre, ply, the printed band, the colourway a knitter will match in their lap. Weight, yardage, and needle size are captions, not a second label the video model invents on the paper band. A generated knitter is a private figure unless you have a replica grant, and a generated knitter "who loves this merino" is a testimonial you did not collect.
Lock the skein. Overlay the spec. Leave the person out unless they sat for it.
Lock the skein before anyone knits
Colourways are the SKU. A buyer who knows "dusty sage" will reject a clip that drifted toward mint. Texture is the other SKU: halo, twist, a slub. Text-to-video will invent a prettier ball with a melted band. That is a different product.
Image-to-video starts from the still. Frame one is the skein the catalog already approved. Keeping a physical SKU believable is the same check on the band as on a bottle: freeze, crop, read the colour name against the real wrapper. If the band is unreadable in the still, reshoot the still. Do not ask motion to sharpen type that was never there.
Weight is a caption, not a label hallucination
Yardage, grams, "worsted," needle size, lot number — those strings have to match the ball band and the listing. A video model drawing them inside the paper wrap will miss a character. That is a false spec, not a soft focus.
Add a text overlay is the job: one line you wrote, burned in, top / center / bottom. 100g / 220m is a caption. It is not a prompt. If you need the weight, then the fibre, then the shop URL on a beat, use timed overlays. Do not regenerate the skein to "include the yardage this time."
If the band in the photograph is already correct and large enough to read, you may not need overlay. If it is not, do not generate a sharper band. Overlay the spec and keep the fibre honest.
Knitters are people
A photoreal person in a yarn ad is a likeness. Staff, a customer, a maker whose photo you liked on Instagram — none of those are "UGC texture." A deepfake of a private person is not a style. Permission is a grant, not a label. A standard shoot release covers photographs you took, not new generated performances; the release that covers generation has to name face, duration, and use.
A synthetic knitter praising the hand-feel is a fabricated endorsement on top of a likeness problem. Real makers, on camera, with consent, or no people. Hands-only from a generated body that still matches a living person you referenced is not a carve-out.
Minors knitting in a generated nursery are a hard stop. Do not.
What is allowed: the skein, objects already in the plate, an invented non-lookalike illustration, and your own hands if you consented. The look of maker content is lighting, a table, and a hook. It is not someone else's face.

Can I generate a pair of hands if I never show a face?
If those hands are referenced from a real person, you still have a likeness of that person. If they are fully invented and not a match to someone you know, you still should not put a testimonial in their gesture. The skein still is the safe ad.
Can I overlay a colourway name that is not on the band in the photo?
Only if it is the real colourway of that skein. Overlay is for specs you typeset correctly, not for renaming a ball. If the still is the wrong dye lot, reshoot.
Is a lifestyle loft with a generated knitter acceptable if I disclose AI?
Disclosure tells viewers the media is synthetic. It does not create a grant from a private person, and it does not turn a fake review into a real one. Show the yarn. Hire or film a real maker if you need a person.
Should I text-to-video a "cozy knitting scene" and composite the skein later?
You will get a second ball in the scene, or a person, or a band that does not match. Start from the skein still. Overlay weight. Do not pay a cinematic generate to invent the knitter this page exists to keep out.
