Dish pods: cut the tub out; do not let the scent gem morph

Background-remove the pack still. I2V that file. Omni will invent a new color.

A dish pod is a color contract. The wrap shade, the chamber split, the scent gem sitting in its window — those are the SKU. A tub in the background is noise. A multimodal generate that “improves” the gem is a new product. Cut the tub out of the still. Animate the cut file. Do not hand the pack to Omni and hope the lime chamber stays lime.

Cut the tub out of the still

The pack photo you already approved is the only honest plate. Kitchen counters, open tubs, a sink in the corner — those are sets. They will compete with the chambers. They will also give a video model extra objects to rewrite.

Remove the background from a photo is the image-edit job, not a video colorkey. Drive it with generate_image_from_image and an instruction that keeps the subject: transparent backdrop, pack edges intact, no new wrap art. This is not a one-click video background tool. It is a prompt on an edit-capable image model, attached to the photo you already have.

Inspect the cut at 100%. Chamber windows are the first place an edit model fills with mush. If the gem goes cloudy in the still, stop. You are about to buy seconds of a cloudy gem. Recrop the source or rerun the edit. Do not “fix it in motion.”

Ecommerce brands often want a UGC-style first three seconds — a hand, a sink, a rough review. That is a different audience page. A dish-pod scent SKU is not looking for roughness. It is looking for the gem not to change hue. The pack plate comes first.

    I2V the cut file

Image-to-video starts from the file you upload. Frame one is the cut pack. Labels, chamber split, and the gem color survive because they are pixels, not adjectives.

Seedance 2.5 is the still-to-motion family for that hold: four to thirty seconds, 720p, 47 credits, native audio. I2V is the job on that family; the published URL is the family page. Prompt camera and physics only — a slow push, a slight orbit, light skating across the wrap. Do not re-describe the gem. Re-describing is how the model starts painting a second chamber.

Iterate short. A thirty-second miss is a long miss of the wrong hue. Four or five seconds will tell you whether the window held. Native audio on the family is a soundtrack you did not necessarily brief; write silence or plan a bed after lock. Quoted “fresh citrus burst” in the prompt is not a mix, and it is not a reason to let the gem drift.

If you need a last frame, it has to be a second approved still of the same SKU, not a generated “after.” Interpolation between two facts is allowed. Interpolation between a fact and a guess is a morph.

Omni will invent a new color

Gemini Omni Video is the multimodal clip: prompt plus optional stills, clips, character IDs, and audio IDs. Output 720p / 1080p / 4K, 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 seconds, listed at 9 credits. An image is not required to press generate. That is the tell. A dish-pod Omni take with no locked pack in the stack is a mood of “cleaning.” Moods do not have SKUs.

Omni’s reference budget is images + videos×2 + character_ids ≤ 7. Dumping seven lifestyle stills of a kitchen still misses the gem if the cut pack is not one of them. One approved pack still is an I2V job. Seven kitchens is how you blow the quota and ship a blue chamber that legal did not print.

Catalog audio on Omni is unset. Do not treat it as a talking demonstrator. Do not prompt a hand squeezing a new colorway “for freshness.” The scent gem is a printed window, not a lava lamp. Motion that melts, mixes, or re-tints the chambers is a different product. Buyers notice. So does a retailer comparing the ad to the shelf.

If the brief is “make the scent feel visible,” overlay the scent name after picture lock. Type you typed will not recolor the plastic.

The gem is not a morph

Scent SKUs live or die on a few square centimeters of tinted chamber. Lemon, orange, “fresh,” the house purple — those are not vibes. They are formulas and print runs. A generate that treats them as weather will morph them.

    Do not:

    • Prompt Omni to “show the scent swirling inside the pod.”
    • Ask text-to-video for “a dish pod dissolving into sparkles.”
    • Edit the gem to a “cleaner” hue because the photo was shot under warm kitchen light. White-balance the still. Then cut. Then I2V.

    Do:

    • Photograph the pack square to camera, gem window sharp.
    • Cut the tub and the counter out.
    • Animate the cut file on the still-to-motion family.
    • Overlay count, scent name, or a CTA as authored type.

The tub can appear in a later live-action insert if you actually sell the tub. It does not belong in the generate as a second hero.

    FAQ

Can I leave the tub in and just blur it in the prompt?

No. A prompt is not a matte. The tub stays in the pixels and the model will start redesigning it. Cut it out of the still, then animate.

Why not Omni if I attach the pack photo as a reference?

You can attach it. Omni is still a 4–10 second multimodal clip with an optional image, which is how teams skip the still. If the job is this exact gem, moving, I2V on Seedance 2.5 is the row that starts from the file.

Does background removal spend video credits?

The photo path is an image edit. It is not the video background tool. Pick an edit-capable image model, keep the pack, inspect the gem, then spend the video credits on I2V of the keeper.

What if the scent gem already looks different in our photography versus the shelf?

Fix photography. Do not average the two in a generate. The shelf is the SKU. Reshoot or color-correct the still until the window matches the unit a buyer will pick up.
