Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise get Astra about a week after 3 Sept 2026. Enterprise admins find it off by default. OpenAI announced GPT-6 Astra on 3 September 2026 and began a limited rollout the same day. OpenAI, CNBC and 9to5Mac agree on the window: Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise within about a week, plus the API and AWS. This page is who gets which surface, what "Astra Pro" means, and why a content company should not assume the model is on.

    The week after 3 September

3 September is the announcement and the start, not the day every seat flipped. OpenAI said Astra began with a limited set of organizations and would reach all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users over the coming days, along with the OpenAI API and AWS. Treat "about a week" as the planning number from that day's reporting, not as a guarantee that your workspace saw the model on 4 September.

Free ChatGPT is not in that list. If a producer only has a free seat, Astra is not their brain this week. Do not file a Versely ticket about it. The catalog does not ship OpenAI's chat plans.

Codex is on the same train. The 3 September notes pair Astra with a Codex harness update, including notes that persist when the context window fills. A team that lives in Codex should watch for Astra as a selectable model there, not only in chat.gpt.com. Computer use is called out as best in the ChatGPT desktop app. That is OpenAI's surface, not Versely's.

AWS is in the same sentence as the API. If your company takes OpenAI models through Bedrock or a similar AWS path, ask that owner for their Astra date. Do not assume the ChatGPT Plus toggle and the AWS model id land on the same morning.

What did not ship in this window: image, video or audio generation on Astra. Rollout of a brain is not rollout of a renderer. If someone on the team is waiting for "Astra video," they are waiting for an announcement that has not been made.

    Plus, Pro, and Astra Pro

Plus gets Astra as part of the subscription, with extra usage via credits on OpenAI's meter. That credit line is OpenAI's, not Versely's. Do not convert it into a Versely price. A Plus seat is enough for a producer who wants computer use on a Mac for shot lists and decks, inside whatever usage cap Plus has that week.

Pro gets more headroom and GPT-6 Astra Pro. OpenAI's notes put Astra Pro on Pro, Business and Enterprise — not as a Plus default. If your work is long computer-use sessions (a full deck, a sheet with two hundred shots, a Codex pipeline that must not lose notes), Pro/Astra Pro is the bucket the vendor named. Plus is the bucket for ordinary chat and shorter desktop tasks.

Business is the workspace version of that Pro-class access: Astra Pro available, admin controls, the same "within about a week of 3 September" window. Business is not Enterprise. It should not inherit Enterprise's off-by-default posture unless your admin copied it.

Usage beyond the included pool is "credits" in OpenAI's wording. Again: that is their add-on meter. Versely generations still bill Versely credits on a catalog row. Two meters, two vendors. Mixing them in a budget spreadsheet is how a finance review goes wrong.

If you are choosing a ChatGPT plan only to fill shot lists, Plus may be enough. If you are choosing it to run Codex all day on a generate pipeline, budget for Pro or Business and confirm Astra Pro is actually visible before you migrate the team.

    API, AWS, and extra usage

API access is in the same about-a-week window. That is how you put Astra behind your own service: a key, a model id, your logging. It is also how you do not get computer use on a Mac. Computer use is a desktop/ChatGPT-app behavior. The API is tokens in, tokens and tool calls out. If the job is "operate Keynote," you want the desktop surface. If the job is "classify this brief and return a slug," you want the API.

AWS is for companies that already take OpenAI through Amazon. The 3 September text lists it; it does not publish a per-region calendar here. Ask the person who owns that contract.

Do not point the OpenAI API at Versely's catalog and expect a clip. Astra via API is still a language-and-tools model. Clips still come from the video generator or from MCP/API calls to Versely that name a video slug.

Extra usage via credits, on OpenAI's side, is how a Plus or Pro seat keeps going after the included pool. Cap it. Computer use that runs in the background will spend that pool without looking like a generate. A shot-list job that loops on a broken spreadsheet is an OpenAI bill, not a Versely one.

Versely pricing remains the meter for catalog work. Connecting MCP does not include Astra. It includes the ability for whatever brain you already have to call generate. You can roll out Versely on Fable this week and add Astra as the brain later without changing the wire.

    Enterprise off by default

This is the line admins miss. Enterprise administrators get Astra off by default. Someone has to turn it on. A producer who sees Astra on their Plus account at home will not see it in the company workspace until that switch flips.

Leave it off until the security review finishes. The review should include:

    • Opaque recurrence: chain-of-thought monitoring is not available the way it was on earlier models. Tool and action logs are. See Astra opaque recurrence explained.
    • Critical cyber threshold and ExploitBench at 100 percent. The most advanced cyber features are application-gated; Daybreak customers first. Marketing does not need that slice. Do not enable it as a side effect of turning on chat.
    • Computer use on company Macs: working folder, no password vault, no shared logins.
    • Data handling: prompts, files, desktop contents. Use OpenAI's Enterprise terms, not a Plus account a producer created with a personal card.

When you do enable it, enable it as a brain for docs and pipelines, not as a supposed renderer. Route pixels through Versely. Sign up for the studio account that will take those generates; the ChatGPT Enterprise switch does not create it.

If the admin never flips the switch, the content team still has a path: another allowed brain (Sol, Fable, whatever is already on), the same MCP connector, the same catalog. Astra's rollout is an OpenAI seating problem. It is not a blocker for shipping clips.

    FAQ

    Does Plus get Astra Pro?

No. OpenAI's 3 September notes put GPT-6 Astra Pro on Pro, Business and Enterprise. Plus gets Astra in the about-a-week window, with extra usage via OpenAI credits.

We are on ChatGPT Enterprise and nobody sees Astra. Is it late?

Check the admin default. Enterprise is off until someone enables it. "About a week from 3 September" is the availability window, not an auto-on for every workspace.

Will the OpenAI API return video once Astra reaches our key?

Not based on the 3 September 2026 announcement. Astra's API path is the language-and-tools model. Video stays on a video model, including the rows in Versely's catalog.
