Keep captions on brand across videos

Save caption style, fonts, and colours in the brand kit once. Later burns inherit it. A draft is a different object.

Save caption style, fonts, and colours once. Keep captions on brand across every video is set_brand_kit. A brand kit is the saved set of colours, fonts, logo, product shots, tone, default aspect, and caption style that later jobs are expected to obey without being reminded. An editor draft is a timeline. Do not re-describe “glass, white, above the username” in chat every Tuesday until the agent picks a cousin.

This is the kit as the default look. It is not save-a-reusable-caption-draft (that page is the EDL).

    Save the look once

Inconsistent short-form is usually not a design disagreement. It is a re-choice. Whoever made Tuesday’s Reel picked a BASIC look; Thursday’s intern picked DYNAMIC glass; Friday’s batch had no burn.

set_brand_kit stores, among other fields: caption_style, fonts, colours, logo_url, tagline, voice_tone, product_shots, default_aspect_ratio. It is a partial upsert. Only fields you pass change. Colours and fonts key-merge; absent keys stay. You can add a caption style this week without wiping last month’s logo.

    Procedure:

    1. Decide the look on a real clip, not a black slate. preview_caption_style renders the first seconds in a candidate preset. Caption Studio: 45 CSS presets, 9 groups × 5 variants. VEED burn: 21 BASIC at 1×, 9 DYNAMIC at 2×, 165 language codes.
    2. list_caption_fonts if the typeface must be named.
    3. Write the kit: caption style, hex values, default 9:16 if that is the house, product shots that are the real SKU.
    4. set_brand_kit with only those fields.
    5. get_brand_kit to read it back. Do this once after the write. Do not assume the chat “remembers” a hex you typed in a prompt.
    6. Later burns and workflows inherit by default. A specific request can still override one video.

The kit is per-account, not a per-client profile you swap mid-session. Agencies that need two looks need two accounts or a disciplined override — the tool will not be a client switcher.

clear_brand_kit_field sets one field to null without deleting the rest. “Remove the logo,” “clear caption style.” Omitting a field on the next upsert will not clear it. That is the merge.

Saving the kit is a settings write, not a render. Credits are spent by the burns it later governs.

Kit is not an editor draft

    Two objects people conflate:

Brand kit. Defaults for generations and workflows: caption look, colours, fonts, logo, tone, default ratio, product stills. Auto-injected into context after the write. Overlay and caption styling is deterministic — a hex is that hex, a font is that font. Inside a generated image, the same values are guidance. The reliable SKU constraint is still the product photograph, not the kit paragraph.

Editor draft. save_editor_project persists a timeline: clips, trims, texts, music, captions. Reload, swap a clip, re-render. That is last week’s Reel as an EDL, not the house style for every future generate.

Use both. Kit so Thursday’s intern does not pick a cousin preset. Draft so next week’s SKU swap does not restyle from chat. Neither replaces add captions to a video on a one-off file. That tool still burns. The kit tells it which look unless you override.

Do not put a logo file in agent memory and a “never do X” rule in the kit. Memory is standing instructions for how to work. The kit is values a render consumes. File each fact where something will apply it.

Caption styles is the public map of looks. Pick there, save here.

DYNAMIC as a default doubles the caption bill

BASIC is 1×. DYNAMIC is 2×. Pinning glass, glide, fusion, or handwritten as the brand default means every later captioned clip pays the premium unless you override. That compounds across a month. What captions cost across a month of clips is the cadence math. Choose with the multiplier in mind, not from a one-clip preview that looked expensive in the good way.

If the brand only needs word-pop on hooks, do not make DYNAMIC the default. Override on the hook file. If the brand is karaoke, pay 2× on purpose and stop re-picking.

Preview on the real background before you pin. Glass on a white pack fails. Beans on a busy kitchen fails. The kit will faithfully apply a bad choice.

Languages: the kit does not translate. add_veed_captions transcribes in the code you set. A French market still needs a French soundtrack (or authored French overlays). The look can stay; the words follow speech.

Default aspect in the kit stops accidental 16:9 on a vertical brand. It does not recrop a still you attached. Crop parents. The kit leans; I2V follows the still.

Override one clip without wiping the kit

A specific request can override the kit on one video. That is a feature. Use it for a one-off collaboration look, not for “trying something” you then forget to revert — there is nothing to revert if you never wrote the experiment into the kit. The kit stays. The one clip is different.

Do not upsert a temporary style into the kit to test. Preview on the clip. If you do upsert by mistake, set_brand_kit the real style back, or clear_brand_kit_field if you meant no default.

Product shots in the kit are references, not a caption style. Store the SKU photos. They constrain generated products harder than adjectives. They do not burn type.

Tone of voice in the kit briefs writers and TTS. It does not pick BASIC vs DYNAMIC. Do not file “energetic” as a caption preset.

QC a week of output against the kit:

    • Same preset family.
    • Same hex on overlays.
    • Same default ratio.
    • Exceptions you can name.

If Friday drifted, the kit was not applied or someone overrode in chat. get_brand_kit and read. Stale memory in the agent is a different store.

YouTube and Article 50 labels are not kit fields. Disclose where the destination requires it. A brand kit will not print “AI generated” unless you made that an overlay string.

Save the caption look in Versely with set_brand_kit, then burn. Do not retype the preset until it cousins.

    FAQ

Do I restate the caption style on every video after this?

No. That is the point. After the write, the kit is auto-injected so later generations and workflows apply it by default.

Will saving a caption style wipe the logo?

No. Partial upsert. Only fields you pass change. Colours and fonts key-merge. To remove a field, clear_brand_kit_field.

Does the kit change what captions cost?

Indirectly. The write is free of a render charge. The preset you pin governs later burns. DYNAMIC at 2× compounds. BASIC at 1× does too, in the other direction.
