    Upscale the still before I2V

    Sharpen the pack still, then run image-to-video. Upscale image resolution is upscale_image on the parent you will attach. A soft label will not become readable in motion. I2V follows the still. Upscaling the clip afterwards is the wrong parent: you pay per frame to crunch letters that were already illegal at frame one.

    This is still → upscale → I2V. It is not video upscale after a 360p Omni draft, and it is not lock-the-still as a SKU-contract essay restacked.

    Soft type will not sharpen in motion

    A pack shot is the still that has to stay readable — label, shape, colour — the plate I2V is not allowed to melt. If the PNG already mush-letters the flavour name, Kling O3 Pro image-to-video (70 credits, native audio, 3–15s) will mush it in motion. Wan 2.7 image-to-video is 15 credits, 1080p, audio null. Same contract. Cheaper motion on a soft still is still a soft SKU.

    Iterate at image prices until the freeze-frame passes. That is cheaper than a 70-credit I2V on the wrong bottle.

    Approve the still for:

    1. Actual SKU, not a moodboard cousin.
    2. Label lettering you can read at phone size, paused.
    3. Angle that matches the verb. A beauty crop with no cap is a bad contract for an unscrew.
    4. Ratio you will ship. Crop to 9:16 before I2V if the clip is TikTok / Reels / Shorts. I2V follows the still’s window.
    5. Background you can live with. I2V will invent motion in the room.

    If the still fails (1)–(3), upscale will not save it. Upscale enhances existing detail. It does not typeset. Fix the still with a real photo, a cleaner generate, or an image edit. Then upscale if the file is still small.

    Low-resolution sources have a ceiling. A 400-pixel PDP scrape will not become a 4K pack. You will get a crunchy 4K-looking smear. Photograph the product or generate the still at a useful size.

    Upscale the still, then attach it

    upscale_image takes an image_url and a model parameter. Ask which upscale models are available and confirm pricing with estimate_cost before you run. Options vary. Do not invent a credit sticker.

    Procedure:

    1. Lock identity on the native still. Pause. Read the label.
    2. Crop to ship ratio. Upscaling a 16:9 plate and then punching 9:16 throws away the new pixels on the sides and may still leave a floating label.
    3. Run upscale_image. Receive a larger URL.
    4. Zoom into type, edges, seams, highlights on the cap. Artifacts in the source get louder. If crunch appears on the logo, you hit the ceiling. Stop. Use a better parent.
    5. Attach the upscaled URL to I2V. Do not attach the small parent and hope the video row upscales. Most I2V rows animate what you gave them.
    6. Prompt motion, not a re-description of the box. Re-describing the product fights the frame.

    T2V is off. Text-to-video will invent a cousin pack in any resolution. The moment a label exists, stop T2V.

    Native audio on the I2V row is a separate radio. If the line must be exact, prefer a silent or null-audio I2V plus TTS. Upscaling the still does not choose the audio flag.

    Seed-lock once the still is the one you like. Changing the still after you liked a motion take is a new I2V, not a grade.

    I2V follows the still's ratio and mess

    A messy still becomes a messy room that moves. Upscale will sharpen the mess: crumbs, a watermark, a reflection of the photographer, compression blocks around the logo.

    Clean before or after upscale, but before I2V:

    • Watermarks. A scraped PDP with a vendor mark is not a contract.
    • Background, if the pack must sit on a new plate — that is the photo cutout page, not this one.
    • Extra products in frame you do not sell this week.

    Ratio again: 1:1 still → 1:1 motion unless the row lets you override, and many follow the still. Write 9:16 in the prompt if you must; still crop the pixels. Prompts do not recrop.

    Duration: pick the beat. 3–8 seconds of a pack turn is a hold plus a verb. 15 seconds of an upscaled still is a lot of time for the model to drift the label. Shorter I2V, then extend only if you must, knowing extend is new picture.

    QC the I2V against the still, not against a memory:

    • Pause frame one. It should still be that PNG, in motion’s clothing.
    • Pause mid-verb. Label still legal.
    • If the logo crawls, cut back to the still. Do not “fix” the SKU in a second prompt. The still was the contract; the clip broke it.

    YouTube and Article 50 labelling still apply to the photoreal clip. Upscaling a still does not change whether the motion is AI. Disclose at first exposure where required (Article 50, 2 August 2026; YouTube Shorts overlay on photoreal, 27 May 2026).

    Do not upscale the clip instead of the parent

    Upscale a video to 4K is a different tool for a different parent: a clip that is already the right composition and too small for the screen. Using it to rescue a soft label is how you pay for every frame of an illegal SKU.

    Order of spend:

    1. Get the still legal (photo or image generate).
    2. Upscale that still if it is small but sharp.
    3. I2V from the upscaled still.
    4. Upscale the video only if the motion keeper is still too small for the slot and the label already holds.

    Google’s Omni 1.1 Flash 360p drafts (Google, 27 August 2026) are a draft tier on Google’s surface. Versely does not publish gemini-omni-1-1-flash. Do not look for 360p stills on a Versely Omni card. Do not upscale a 360p video draft and extract a still from it as the I2V parent for a hero. Start with a still that was meant to be a still.

    FAQ

    Does upscaling fabricate a readable label?

    No. It enhances existing detail. If the letters are already mush, photograph or regenerate the still. Then upscale if the file is still small.

    Should I upscale the I2V clip instead?

    Only if the motion is already legal and the file is too small. Soft type at frame one will not become a legal SKU at 4K.

    Do I crop before or after upscale?

    Crop to the ship ratio before I2V. Cropping before upscale avoids spending detail on pixels you will throw away. Either way, do not attach a 16:9 still to a TikTok I2V and hope.
