SRT to VTT Converter in the browser is not a generate

/free-tools/srt-to-vtt-converter never spends a credit. Do not pay a model to do an in-browser file job.

/free-tools/srt-to-vtt-converter never spends a credit. Do not pay a model to do an in-browser file job.

SRT to VTT Converter maps SubRip to WebVTT on the machine in front of you. No upload. No model. No account. No generation meter. The free-tools shelf is defined by that constraint: Canvas, the File API, or arithmetic in the tab. If a "converter" called a caption model, it would be a generate with a utility label.

Versely has no free tier for generation. Every model call costs credits. This tool is free because it never calls a model. Use it when you already have an .srt and the player wants .vtt. Do not pay a cinematic row to invent subtitles. Do not ask Veo to typeset a track.

SubRip is not WebVTT with a new extension

A rename is not a conversion. WebVTT requires the literal first line WEBVTT. Fractional seconds use a dot. SubRip uses a comma. Skip either and the browser fails silently: the track loads, zero cues parse, nothing appears, no error.

A file you saved as .vtt that is still SubRip has neither the header nor the separator. The extension lied. The parser did not.

Cue numbers are optional in WebVTT. This converter keeps them. They make diffs and notes easier. Dropping them saves nothing. Indices, times, and text survive. Positioning that SubRip never had is not invented.

Paste or drop. The bytes stay in memory, convert, and download. Network off, it still runs. No watermark. No credit meter. Not "AI captions." A header, a separator, a file.

Models have a meter. This tool does not.

Every generate on Versely bills credits. There is no 0-credit generate and no daily free allowance. Balances come from subscriptions and packs. Unused credits roll while the subscription is active. The app quotes the cost before you confirm.

SRT to VTT is not in that loop. File API, your device. Opening a catalog row to "turn this SRT into VTT" is how a sidecar becomes a video bill and a player that still shows a blank track.

    Do not:

    • Feed the .srt to an image model and ask it to "typeset WebVTT."
    • Generate a clip of captions over black because you needed a header.
    • Prompt a video row to "burn subtitles" as a format swap.
    • Change the extension and hope.

Those spend credits, or they fail without a message. They do not write WEBVTT. Convert here.

Other caption jobs, still not this job

Need SubRip out of a VTT? VTT to SRT is the reverse direction on the same shelf — it strips cue settings SubRip cannot carry. This direction adds a header and swaps comma to dot. They are not the same transform.

Cues late after a trim? Subtitle timing shifter applies a constant offset. Still a file job. Progressive drift is frame-rate. Rescale; do not prompt a model.

Speech on a tape with no sidecar? That is add captions to a video, billed. VEED, 165 language codes, no translation. That tool listens. This converter does not. It rewrites a sidecar you already have.

Video models do not emit a valid WebVTT file. They sometimes paint glyphs in the picture, billed as video. Convert the sidecar. Caption a tape when the words are on the tape. Generate when you need frames.

HTML5 players accept real WebVTT. They swallow a renamed SubRip and show nothing. The failure is the format.

    /cost does not apply here

/cost is the credit-formula hub: per second, per 1,000 characters, per megapixel, per tier, per job. Read it before a real generate. SRT to VTT is absent because the coefficient is zero.

Job is "SubRip → WEBVTT + dot timestamps": /free-tools/srt-to-vtt-converter. Job is "a 5-second clip of these captions": a video row, billed. File transform versus generate. Only the file transform is free, and only because no model runs.

Teams waste a generate trying to skip the converter. If the SRT already exists, convert it. Linking /cost is how you see the meter that does not fire on this page.

    FAQ

Does SRT to VTT spend credits if I am logged in?

No. It never spends a credit. Logging in elsewhere does not meter a browser convert. Generation is the surface that quotes a cost before confirm.

Are caption files sent to Versely?

No. File API, your machine. Offline still works.

Why does a renamed .srt show no subtitles as .vtt?

Formats differ. WebVTT needs WEBVTT on line one and a dot between seconds and milliseconds. SubRip uses a comma and has no header. A rename has neither. The browser finds no cues and reports nothing.

Should I generate the subtitles with Veo instead?

No. Scene models do not write a timed WebVTT sidecar. They bill as video and sometimes paint unreadable type. Convert here. Do not pay a model for an in-browser file job.
