A 4-second maybe with the product gag at 0:02 and a 4-second keeper with the gag at 0:03 want different inserts. Placing a reaction first is how you fall in love with a punch you then cannot recut. Lock the reveal. Then drop the face.

Do not use a reaction to "add energy" to a take with no beat. Energy is not a sticker.
A reaction is also a second performance with its own duration. Dropping a 2-second shock onto a 1-second reveal you still might recut creates a new clock you will then caption against. Place it when the reveal's second is a number you would write down.

Can the agent auto-detect the funny moment?
No. You place it. If you cannot name the second, you are not in this tool yet.
Should I front-load the reaction as a hook?
That is often the hook job: an opener. A mid-clip punch is this page. Both wait for a body (or a reveal) that is real.
Why not generate a custom shocked face?
You can, as UGC, after you know you need that identity. Generic stock on a locked gag is cheaper than generating a custom miss to punctuate a maybe.
Are watermarked hook previews usable in the cut?
Not as a master. Unlock if this is the insert for a keeper. Do not buy to decorate a draft.
