Typito's job is the broadcast graphic: a lower-third with a name, a speaker card, a title that sits on the picture because you authored it. That is not a transcription job. Versely keeps those two objects apart — add_video_captions and add_timestamped_captions stamp copy you typed; add_veed_captions is the other tool, and it is not what this page is for.
The three graphic shapes, and the Headline family that reads as a title card, are below.
One persistent line: the lower-third
add-text-overlay-to-video runs add_video_captions: one caption_text, a required position (top, center or bottom), optional background block, optional font from list_caption_fonts. It does not listen to the soundtrack. A name and a role that never get spoken still belong here.
add-a-text-overlay-to-my-video is the same stamp as an agent instruction. Silence, native dialogue, a music bed — none of that changes the string.
Several cards on a clock
add-timed-text-overlays-to-video runs add_timestamped_captions: each line carries its own start_sec and end_sec. Guest one from 0–8s, guest two from 8–20s, a chapter title at 45s. You write every line. You set every window.
add-timed-text-overlays-to-my-video is that list as one agent request. Font, size, colour and position apply across the set in a given render, so a row of speaker cards stays one graphic system.
A title card is a deliberate use of the same stamp
add-a-title-card-to-video is not a separate motion-graphics renderer. It is add_video_captions used as a centered headline with a background block — the tool's own description lists headline and branded-label use cases. Keep the line short.
Chapter markers later in the file belong on add_timestamped_captions, because those titles have to appear and disappear on a clock.
Headline is the title-card family
The Headline group on /caption-styles is tall condensed caps with title-card energy — top of frame by default, with a bottom-of-frame variant when the subject sits high. It is a look for authored graphics, not a karaoke pass on dialogue.
How it works
1. Write the line
A name, a role, a chapter title, a CTA. This is copy you authored. Nothing is pulled from the audio.
2. Choose one line or several timed cards
add_video_captions for a persistent lower-third or title. add_timestamped_captions when each card has its own window.
3. Place it and, if needed, add a background block
Top, center or bottom. A block behind the type is what makes a lower-third read over busy footage.
4. Render
The graphic is burned into the frames. A later recut of the picture means restamping the graphic.
Where this lives in Versely
Who this fits
- Interview lower-thirds with a name and a title the speaker never says
- Named-speaker cards that swap when the guest changes
- Chapter titles and cold-open cards on a longer cut
- A CTA or badge that has to sit on the picture for the whole clip
Frequently asked questions
How does Versely compare to Typito?+
Versely stamps authored graphics with add_video_captions (one persistent line or a title card) and add_timestamped_captions (several cards, each with its own start and end). The Headline family on /caption-styles is the title-card look. None of those tools transcribe speech.
Will this transcribe what the speaker said?+
No. add_video_captions and add_timestamped_captions burn text you supply. Speech-to-caption is a different tool, and mixing the two is how a hook line comes back as a transcript of the take.
Can each speaker card use a different colour?+
In one add_timestamped_captions render, size, colour, position and font are set once for the whole set. Separate renders if two cards must look unrelated.
Is there a dedicated motion-graphics title tool?+
No. A title card is add_video_captions used deliberately: centered type, background block. Several titles through a longer file use add_timestamped_captions instead.
