Brand-kit type vs a caption preset
Kit hex and font bind on captions; 45 CSS presets are the drawing. Map the kit onto one family. Override for contrast, not for taste.
A brand kit stores hex, font, logo, tone, default frame. Caption Studio stores 45 CSS presets in nine groups of five. The kit is the brand. The preset is the drawing. Map the kit onto one family. Override when contrast fails on the plate. Do not override every Tuesday because a new accent looked fun in the picker.
The kit binds; the generate does not
Generation is stochastic. A brand is the part that is not allowed to be. Overlay and caption styling is deterministic: a hex value is that hex value, a font is that font. Inside a generated image the same values are guidance. The glossary is explicit about that split. Use it.
What belongs in the kit for captions:
- Fill hex, outline hex, accent hex for word-highlight
- Font, if you are actually shipping that typeface and not merely wishing the generate would letter it
- Default position (top or bottom) for the series
- Tone notes that forbid all-caps, emoji, or a second family
What does not belong in the kit as a caption spec:
- All 45 preset ids
- A paragraph that says “make it pop”
- A hex you expect Veo to paint as a lower third inside the generate
Set my brand kit is the store. remember is for standing behavioural rules that are not hexes (“always caption after lipsync”). Mixing those stores is how the outline colour lives in a memory paragraph and never reaches the burn.
VEED’s list is a second mapping problem. 21 BASIC at 1× and 9 DYNAMIC at 2× are not named after your kit. Corpo is not “our hex.” Glass is not “our glassmorphism brand.” If the series burns through VEED, pick one BASIC id that can wear the kit colours, and treat DYNAMIC as a named hook exception. Do not hunt 30 VEED looks for a personality the kit already defined.
Forty-five presets are nine drawings
The nine families are the face: Classic, Paper, Ink, Halo, Hype, Signature, Headline, Snap, Reveal. Five variants each change colour, radius, or position. That is where the kit should land.
Map:
- Stroke families (Classic, Halo, Hype, Headline). Kit fill on the letters, kit outline on the stroke. If the kit has no outline, add a dark or light edge anyway. Contrast is not optional because the brand book showed white on a grey page.
- Card families (Paper, Ink). Kit colour on the card or on the type, not both fighting. A brand-accent card with brand-accent type is a low-ratio badge. One of them has to be the plate; the other has to read.
- Timed families (Snap, Reveal). Kit colour on the rest, kit accent on the live word. The size of the effect is the distance between those two. If they are the same hex, you get a quiet scale (the Mono idea). If they are complementary on a neon generate, you get a strobe.
Font: the nine families already pick typefaces (TikTok Sans, Montserrat, Inter, Poppins Bold, Oswald, Pacifico, Bebas, Anton). A kit that insists on a custom face the preset cannot load will silently ship the family’s font. Preview the actual burn, not the kit PDF. If the custom face matters, confirm it is available on the path you are rendering. Swapping the font after you approved a sample is how the thing you signed is not the thing you shipped.
Caption styles is the catalogue. Pin one group per series. The kit updates the variant, not the group. Changing family to “match a new hex” is a new show. Hexes live inside the family.
Override for contrast, not for taste
Brand-accent cyan on a neon generate is not a contrast strategy. White kit type on a pale pouch is not “on brand.” It is invisible. WCAG contrast for burned-in type still applies. AA is a UI claim. Burned-in still needs a ratio you can see on a phone.
Allowed overrides:
- Add a stroke or a card the kit forgot, so the letters hold on a busy plate
- Flip to the top variant when the pack owns the bottom
- Use the solid card instead of Sheer when the plate is hostile
- Drop DYNAMIC / Snap when CPS is maxed or the mix is dirty
Disallowed overrides (unless the bible names them):
- A new family per post
- Glass because it looked premium in a demo
- All-caps to “make the hex louder”
- A second accent from last year’s campaign
The kit is allowed to lose a taste fight to a readable edge. It is not allowed to lose a recognition fight to a browsing habit. One family per series. Outline or backdrop when Glass-like transparency fails.
Paid versus organic can share the kit and split the clock: BASIC block in kit colours for the freeze-frame ad; Snap with the kit accent for the organic hook. That is two burns, one brand. It is not two families.
Pin the map, then burn
Write the map in the bible:
Family: Classic. Fill: #F4F1EA. Outline: #111111. Position: bottom (top on pack-led cuts). VEED: plain at 1×. DYNAMIC: off unless the hook is a spoken phrase.
Then:
- Lock the cut.
- Transcribe. 165 codes. Numbers match the PDP.
- Apply the pinned family with kit colours. Sample on this plate, not on the kit’s grey page.
- If the worst frame fails, add edge or card. Do not hop to Hype.
- Burn. Export the MP4. A CSS preview of the family is not the file.
The AI caption generator and add captions to a video will use whatever is selected. Default Glass is how a kit with a careful hex still ships a 2× transparent miss. Select the pin.
Keeping captions on brand across every video is the operational twin. This page is the object split: kit versus preset. Hex and font from the kit. Drawing from one of nine groups. Override for contrast.
If a teammate pastes a hex into the prompt instead of the kit, the generate may ignore it and the captioner will not see it. Put caption colour in the kit or in the pinned preset, not in a sentence to Veo. Type on the burn is the surface the kit actually owns.
Map the next burn to the kit in Versely.
FAQ
Does a brand-kit hex guarantee readable captions?
On the type, the hex is the hex. Against a moving plate it can still fail. Add a stroke or a card. Do not treat the kit PDF as a contrast meter.
Can I keep the kit font and still use Snap?
Only if that font is actually available on the timed preset you will render. Snap’s default is Anton. Preview the burn. If the kit font does not load, you shipped Anton. Pin what you saw.
Should VEED Glass inherit the kit because it is the default look?
No. Glass is a DYNAMIC 2× transparent treatment. It often fails on product plates and it is not a family in the 45. Map the kit onto a pinned Studio family or a BASIC VEED id. Name Glass only if you previewed it on this plate and the ratio holds.
