Etsy listings need the SKU still, not a Grok-on-X look

Seedance I2V from the listing photo. Grok Imagine is an X destination row. The shop wants the unit the buyer will receive. X wants a clip that looks born on X. Those are two files. Mixing them is how a candle listing gets a Grok-shaped cousin of the jar you actually ship.

Photograph the SKU. Animate that photograph. Post Imagine when the timeline is X.

The listing photo is the SKU

Etsy's listing image requirements ask for original photos of the actual finished product a buyer will receive — not stock, not a rendering. The first image is a factual claim about the unit. A generated hero that "looks like" the candle is still a rendering of a candle you did not photograph.

Video that starts from that photograph is a different object. Image-to-video keeps frame one as the file you sent. Seedance 2.5 is the family for that still-to-motion row: a locked plate, four to thirty seconds in one pass, native audio, 720p on the image-to-video endpoint, optional last frame when the shot has to land on a second approved angle — label-forward to three-quarter of the base. Prompt only the camera. A slow orbit, a window light that was already in the still. Do not prompt "make it look like a Grok post."

If the still is the photo already in slot one, use that photo. Do not generate a second jar, a second glaze, or a second stamp. A listing video that invents geometry is a listing problem, not a style upgrade. The policy map for generated product shots is where marketplace rules draw the line.

Grok-on-X is a destination, not a shop dialect

Grok Imagine Video is xAI's generator: a distinctive, loosely-styled look, native audio on the generate rows, durations that start at six seconds. That look is the point when the post lives on X. It is the wrong engine when the file has to match a SKU the buyer can hold.

Imagine will surprise you on a label. Surprise is expensive once it is the listing. Grok Imagine when the destination is X is the routing rule: name the network, then pick the family. An Etsy PDP is not X. A Reel that clicks through to Etsy is still a shop file if the product has to be yours.

The side-by-side is Versely vs Grok Imagine. Imagine wins an X-native short that should look like Imagine. Versely wins when Imagine is one row and the same week also needs a pack hold. Do not default the shop to Imagine because Grok is already open. That is the launcher-as-studio mistake with a different icon.

Motion after the photo, never instead of it

Lock the still before you buy seconds. If the listing photo would not pass as slot one, motion will not save it. If it would, write a motion line that names camera and light only. Identity is already in the frame.

A last-frame still is a second approved photo, not a prompt for "the unboxing." Front of pack to in-hand, both photographed, is a Seedance first-last job. A paragraph about an unboxing is how you get a third jar.

Captions, price, and SKU strings belong in a text overlay you wrote. Video models do not typeset an Etsy title. Burn the line after picture lock.

Keep Imagine for the X cut that is allowed to look like Imagine. Keep Seedance I2V for the listing loop that has to be the SKU. One bill, two rows. The shop is not a destination dialect.

    FAQ

Can I use a Grok Imagine clip as the Etsy listing video?

Only if you are willing to ship a file that looks like Imagine, not like the listing photo. If the buyer has to recognise the unit in slot one, start from that photo on Seedance I2V. Imagine is the X row.

Does animating the listing photo replace the listing photo?

No. Slot one is still the photograph. The video is supporting motion of that photograph. Do not swap in a generated still as the main image.

What if I only have a phone photo of the piece?

Use it. A real phone photo of the actual unit is the contract. A prettier generated jar is not. Crop and colour on the file; do not restage the object in a model.

Do I need Imagine's seven-image lock for an Etsy SKU?

No. Seven-image lock is how Imagine holds a face, a product, and a place for an X-native short. A shop listing already has the product photo. Feed that photo to image-to-video. Do not rebuild the SKU as an Imagine stack.
