- You will reject freely. Ten plates are 10 credits.
Skip O1 Image when the still already exists and one object is wrong. That is the edit slug. Skip it when you needed 4K listed, dense 14-language type, or Flux photoreal at 7 credits. Skip it when you needed motion.
Reasoning before it draws is a stills feature. It is not a studio. It will not caption, lipsync, or last 6 seconds. Write a spec anyway: subject, set, light, quoted strings, what must not appear. A reasoning model given a vibe paragraph will reason its way into a prettier vibe paragraph.

Edit the supplied still
Pick O1 Image Edit when:
- You already approved a still (O1 generate, camera, or another T2I) and the job is a change.
- You can point: left cup, red cap, the line of type, the jacket.
- 2K instruction at 1 credit is enough ceiling.
- The aspect is 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 3:4. Match the source. If the source is 2:3, you are cropping or you picked the wrong editor for that ratio.
Skip O1 Image Edit when you have no file. Skip it when the failure mode is 4K type-in-image surgery — Qwen Image Edit is 3 credits and 4K. Skip it when you needed ten references — Image O1 Kling or Banana 2. HiDream Edit is instruction and subject-driven change on one supplied image.
One verb per run if the last run drifted. "Make it more premium" restyles the label. "Remove the paper cup on the left. Keep the bottle, the label, and the crop" is an edit.

Same list credits. Different categories. Generate is text-to-image and does not require a file. Edit is edit-image and does. 1 credit does not merge the doors.
Is HiDream O1 4K?
Not on these cards. Both descriptions say up to 2K. If the order said 4K, pick a row that lists 4K or upscale separately.
Where does Dev fit?
HiDream O1 Image Dev is a 1-credit distilled T2I generate, also up to 2K. Use it when the brief is the faster generate tier. It is not the edit slug, and it is not this pair's decision except as a third generate door.
