Fix one slide, not the whole deck
Replace, remove, or reorder one slide by image_id. Do not regenerate the deck or recut the exported MP4.
Fix slide three. Leave the rest. Fix a slide in a slideshow is three operations: replace_slideshow_slide, remove_slideshow_slide, reorder_slideshow_slides. Each wants an image_id from get_slideshow. Regenerating the six-pack because one SKU is wrong is six image bills for one mistake. Recutting the MP4 after convert is harder than editing the board. Fix the still. Then convert again if you already rendered.
This page is per-slide surgery. It is not “build a slideshow instead of T2V.”
Fetch the live board before you name “the fourth one”
get_slideshow returns slides with image_id and order_index. Slide N is the Nth image after sorting by order_index ascending. Chat memory of “the sunset one” is not an id. Work from the fetched state.
Then pick one verb:
- Replace —
replace_slideshow_slidetakes theimage_idplus a new prompt (and optionally a model) and generates a fresh image in that slot. Charged as a new image. Refunded if the generation fails. - Remove —
remove_slideshow_slidedrops one still. No refund. The image was already generated. - Reorder —
reorder_slideshow_slidestakes the complete new ordering asimage_id/order_indexpairs — every slide, not a diff. Omitting the ones that “didn’t move” is the usual way to scramble the board. Reorder generates nothing. It is the cheap fix when the strongest frame is currently slide five.
add_images_to_slideshow exists when you need to grow the set. That is an add, not a fix. This page is the wrong-slide case.
Public boards on /slideshows are often six frames at 36 credits. That is a graph. Recreating the graph from a prompt because card two drifted is how 36 becomes 72. Replace card two.
If you stamped overlay with add_text_overlay, replacing a slide drops the stale overlay version of that slide. Re-run overlay on the new still. Convert with use_edited_images only after that, or the MP4 will mix stamped old cards with a bare new one.
Do not regenerate the deck
People regenerate because it feels like one button. It is N buttons.
Regenerate the whole set when the brief changed: new product line, new aspect, new brand kit, the old stills are legally dead. Do not regenerate because slide four has a melted label. That is replace. Do not regenerate because the hook should be first. That is reorder.
Cost notes from the task:
- Replace: new image price. Think before you replace eight slides “to be safe.”
- Remove: no refund.
- Reorder: no generate.
Confirm with estimate_cost on a replace. Image credits are the meter. Convert is a render pass on stills you already paid for.
If the stills came from photos you uploaded, replace may mean upload a better photo into that slot rather than a new generate. The id still comes from get_slideshow. The tool still wants the live board.
AI slideshow maker is the house for this object. A video row will not swap frame three.
Do not recut the MP4
convert_slideshow_to_video renders the board as it currently stands. Once you have an MP4, slide three is a few seconds of encoded pixels, mixed with a transition and maybe a bed. Editing that file to swap one still is a video edit: cut, insert, hope the hold length matches duration_per_image. You will drift the music. You will recaption.
Correct order when convert already ran:
get_slideshow.- Replace / remove / reorder.
- Re-apply overlay if you replaced.
- Convert again. Same
duration_per_imageand transition unless you meant to change pace. - Throw away the old MP4 or keep it as a dated export. The board is the source.
duration_per_image is one value for the set. If slide three needs more time, convert cannot give it. Per-item timing is compose_video_with_overlay. That is a different assembly, not a reason to regenerate stills.
A slideshow remains stills plus a hold. Fixing one still is the point of having stills. A T2V listicle has no slide three.
One id, one verb, then stop
Procedure for a client who hated the fourth card:
- Fetch. Name the id. Screenshot the order if humans are arguing.
- Replace that id with a prompt that describes that card, not the whole campaign.
- Review the new still at full size. Type, SKU, faces.
- Overlay if needed.
- Reorder only if the new card should also move.
- Convert when the board is the board you would post as a carousel too.
Client language that means replace, not regenerate: “the third product is the old SKU,” “make the hook the first card,” “drop the lifestyle shot.” Client language that means a new board: “new brand colours,” “switch to 1:1,” “ten cards not six.” If they said the first kind and you generated six new stills, you spent the week’s image budget on a conversation error.
When replace returns a still that still melts the label, replace again with a tighter prompt on that card — lock the pack, less camera, no new objects — or upload a photo into the slot. Two replace bills on one id is still cheaper than six. Do not “try a different video model” on the whole carousel. There is no video model in this object.
If overlay copy on the bad slide was the only error, you may not need replace. Re-run add_text_overlay on that still if the image is fine and the stamp is wrong. Replace is for the pixels of the photograph. Overlay is for the words on top. Mixing those two is how you pay for a new sunset when you needed a new price.
Scheduled posts that already grabbed the old MP4 will not pick up the board fix. Convert again, then replace the scheduled file. The slideshow_id is the source of truth inside Versely. The social queue is a copy.
If the board is a carousel you will also post as stills, fix the still before either convert or the carousel upload. Slide three wrong on Instagram is the same id you would have replaced. The MP4 is not a second source of truth.
If you need a seat to fetch the board and replace one still, sign up. Bring the slideshow_id. Do not bring “redo the carousel.”
FAQ
Do I get credits back if I delete a slide?
No. remove_slideshow_slide does not refund. The image was already generated. Replace charges for the new image and refunds if that generation fails.
How do I swap two slides?
Pass the complete ordering to reorder_slideshow_slides — every image_id with a new order_index. Fetch first so you do not drop the ones that stayed.
I already exported an MP4. Can I patch slide three in the video?
You can, as a painful video edit. Do not. Fix the slideshow, then convert again. The board is the source; the MP4 is a render.
