    Wedding UGC needs couple consent

Wedding UGC needs couple consent. Recut the day they hired you for; a generated first dance is not a booking proof.

Wedding UGC needs couple consent. The production constraint is the pair who hired you: both people, on paper, for this recut and this paid use, of a day that actually happened. A planner’s SOW is not a couple’s Ads Manager grant. A generated first dance in a vineyard you did not attend is not a booking proof. Recut the day. Do not invent the couple.

This is not photographer UGC. A photographer recuts a sitting they shot and licensed. A planner often does not own the pictures. It is also not event UGC. Event recap on this site is a billed room you were in as a promoter or venue. A wedding is a private day. Guests did not buy a ticket to be in an ad. It is not florist UGC either. A florist recuts a cooler. A planner recuts a timeline — and only with the couple’s paper.

UGC ads still show about 4× click-through and about 50% lower CPC, and 86% of brands say UGC lifts performance (Kapwing 2026; Billo). 92% of consumers trust a peer over a brand message in the same stack. A peer in this category hired you, or sat at that table. Human UGC still rates 81% on authenticity against 63% for AI UGC (Kapwing 2026; archive.com / creator.co). The gap is whether the couple in the still were actually married that afternoon.

The couple has to have said yes to the ad

A wedding agreement that lets you “use images for portfolio” is not automatically paid social, not automatically a term, not automatically both people. Read the clause. Ask again if it is silent. Silence favours the couple.

    Paper, before you spend:

    • Both people, if both are identifiable. One signature does not cover the other unless the contract says so in words they could find.
    • This video, this paid use, this term, a withdrawal path you will honour including ads already in flight.
    • No pressure tied to the day. If the timeline depended on saying yes to a reel, stop.
    • Second-shot footage, drone, and guest clips: those are other people’s files. A WhatsApp dump is not a licence.

What you may put on camera:

    • Stills or clips the couple granted, from a day you were hired for.
    • Process: your hands on a timeline, a seating chart with dummy names, a vendor call sheet with personal numbers cut.
    • The venue you had permission to show. A venue rider, a planner’s access, not a generated ballroom.

    What you may not:

    • Generate a couple, a bride, a first dance, a child as a flower-person.
    • Inpaint a sky, a dress, or a second venue into a real job and call the result documentary.
    • Scrape another planner’s recap because the tablescape matched.
    • Use a job whose contract forbade social, then crop the faces and hope.

A couple on camera is a testimonial ad if they speak a result. “We loved the timeline” is a line they have to have said, on paper, for this use. A generated “best day of our lives” over a fake kiss is a fabricated review.

Vendors, venues, and music you do not own

A wedding is a stack of other people’s work. Florists, photographers, caterers, DJs, the venue’s listed facade — logos and faces are not automatically yours to advertise with. Your recap is not their ad, and their recap is not yours, until the paper says so.

    Do not ship:

    • A venue’s interior as if you own the room. The venue may already have a rider that forbids ads without a separate grant.
    • A photographer’s hero still without a licence from the photographer and the couple. Two grants.
    • Guest faces at tables. Crop, shoot empty set-up, or paper. “Everyone was dancing” is not a file.
    • The DJ’s set under your VO. The chart hit is not your Meta licence. Use a bed you cleared, or recut silent with burned-in captions.

Minors: do not. Not as “flower girl energy,” not generated, not in the background of a family table in a paid acquisition ad. Crop or shoot empty. This page’s paid-acquisition default is adult subjects or faceless process.

Staff: a planner on camera is staff. Identify them. Employment plus a paid-media grant. Do not generate an employee. Do not cut a coordinator as a “guest who just loved it.”

FTC endorsement disclosure still applies if you gift a fee reduction for a reel. A gifted wedding is a material connection. Say so.

YouTube’s 27 May 2026 labelling pass (YouTube Blog) overlays photoreal or meaningfully AI-altered Shorts. Labels do not turn a synthetic vineyard into a wedding you planned. Beauty filters on a real, contracted still are not the overlay. A generated dress is.

The day happened; do not generate it

The failure mode in this category is a reel that could not survive a “were you there” comment. Comment sections in weddings are forensic. They will find the dress on another feed. They will find the venue’s own recap with different light.

    Do not ship:

    • A generated “destination elopement” as proof you fly.
    • A composite of three Saturdays into one “typical wedding.”
    • AI upscales that invent detail the file never had, presented as the day.
    • A fake studio with a fake tablescape as your address.
    • A minted crowd in empty seats.

New York’s synthetic-performer law (N.Y. GBL § 396-b, in force 9 June 2026) requires conspicuous disclosure of generated human performers in ads that can reach New York consumers. $1,000 first, $5,000 subsequent. A fake couple is a roomful of performers. Article 50 wants a first-exposure label on photoreal people for EU audiences since 2 August 2026. A labelled fake first dance is still a fake first dance. Use the Article 50 disclosure template. Then still do not run the fake sitting.

Digital twins of identifiable real clients are a different legal problem than synthetic performers. The New York statute does not cover twins of identifiable people; that does not make cloning a past couple into a new ad a good idea. Do not.

Instagram’s 31 August 2026 pass (TechCrunch) reduces reach for undisclosed AI-generated people on a profile. A grid of invented “brides” is that object. Labelling the profile does not invent a booking.

Behind-the-scenes of you working is often the cleaner ad: adult planner, real timeline, real vendor call, empty tables before guests arrive. Process is UGC. A minted love story is not.

Copy lies as often as pictures. “We only take eight weddings a year,” a city you do not work, a guest-count you cannot staff — each is a promise. UGC VO that inflates them is still an ad. Write the allowed lines from the current books.

Recut the footage the couple already approved

Planners already have the plates this format wants: a phone walk of the empty room before doors, a timeline still, a vendor meeting, a couple’s granted stills if the photographer licensed them. That is the library. The generate layer is captions, crop, and a hook over stills you own. It is not a new couple.

The UGC video generator can sequence real stills with a talking plate you recorded and burned-in package names. Do not prompt it for “a sunlit vineyard wedding with a cinematic kiss.” Prompt it to caption the empty tablescape you shot at 3pm.

Motion on a still you own is optional. Wan 2.6 Image to Video Flash is 8 credits, 1080p, silent, 5 / 10 / 15 seconds — a mute push on a contracted still, not a generated bouquet. Do not prompt a second dress. Kling O3 Pro Text to Video will invent a handsome ceremony in 3–15 seconds at 70 credits with native audio. Handsome is a different booking. Keep it off the enquiry ad.

Captions: burn the package name as the price list names it, the city you actually plan, the enquiry URL. Auto-captions will smash venue names. The AI caption generator is for those strings. Keep type off faces you are allowed to show; the face is the proof that the day happened. Watch the safe area.

Usage rights default to the narrow reading. If the couple withdraws, the ad comes down. That is the job.

66% of creators offer UGC services and the creator population grew 93% year on year (Kapwing 2026; creator.co). Most of them are not your couple. Do not hire a creator to play a bride. 87% of brands use UGC and 16% have a strategy. The strategy here is: couple paper, empty-room process if the faces are thin, no synthetic sitting, no invented venue.

If the cut still works after you change the planner’s name, you did not recut a day. Put a granted frame in second one.

    Caption the timeline in Versely.

    FAQ

Can I generate a sample wedding if I label it as AI?

You can label a photoreal generate. You still should not run it as proof you plan weddings. A labelled fake sitting is still a day you did not run. Use granted stills or process.

Does one spouse’s approval cover the other?

Not unless the contract says so in words both could find. If both are identifiable, get both. Crop the one who did not sign.

Can I use the photographer’s recap in my ads?

Only with a licence from the photographer and a paid-media grant from the couple. Two files. A tagged story is neither.
