Merchant Center, Meta catalogue, TikTok catalog: a row per SKU with an image, a title, a price, a URL, an availability flag. Demand-gen and shopping campaigns can build ads from those rows without a new shoot per variant. The feed is data. The pack shot is the still that has to stay readable when you do shoot or generate a clip. Mixing the two is how a lifestyle generate with a melted label gets uploaded as the catalogue image, or a catalogue PNG gets animated as if it were a locked pack.
Still contract is the I2V rule: the clip must keep being that product. The feed's image is often a white-background JPEG that will not survive a cinematic orbit. If the campaign needs video, generate or film against a still you would actually approve as the pack, then keep the feed image as the shopping tile. UGC ads that hold a real carton still have to match the SKU the feed will send a shopper to. A colourway that is not in the catalogue is a mismatch, not a variant test.
Feed hygiene is the unglamorous half: broken links, out-of-stock rows still serving, titles that do not match the spoken claim. Creative will not fix a row that points at the wrong PDP. Treat the feed as a source of truth the edit has to obey, not as a bucket of images to prompt from.
In practice
- Approve the pack still before you animate it. Do not use a feed thumbnail as an I2V input if the type is already soft.
- Match the on-screen SKU to the feed row the ad will land on.
- When Demand Gen attaches a product feed, check titles and availability on the rows, not only the video.
The mistake to avoid
Prompting a prettier bottle and letting the shopping tile stay the old PNG. The feed and the spot have to be the same product.
