A talking head is a format: someone addresses the camera. A deepfake, in Article 50, is realistic synthetic media of a real-looking person, place or event. A synthetic persona is a policy object. YouTube's July 2026 inauthentic-content clarification (Mashable, 21 July 2026) named AI-generated personas that present as human authorities on healthcare, finance, law, or politics as a monetisation kill. The face can be labelled. The advice can be hedged. The bucket still closes. A constructed doctor walking 'what you should do' is the pattern.
The split is the job of this term. A labelled avatar walking a skincare routine is a format choice. A labelled avatar diagnosing is the third bucket. A digital-twin of a real, consenting clinician is a different legal and union problem, and it is still a presenter giving expert advice — do not assume the twin saves YPP. Faceless channels that invent a host to carry a health script have built a persona whether or not they think of themselves as faceless.
Change the format rather than the toggle. Real footage you have rights to, overlay type, a host who is a real person on camera, or a topic that is not expert advice. Disclosure is still owed when the picture is photoreal. Disclosure does not buy you the expert niche.
In practice
- If the script tells a stranger what to do with their body, money, rights, or vote, do not put a generated face on it for YPP.
- A talking-head UGC ad for a product is not this bucket. A talking-head 'attorney' is.
- Do not rely on the AI label, the overlay chip, or a 'not medical advice' caption to leave the bucket.
The mistake to avoid
Treating any generated presenter as a synthetic persona, or treating a labelled fake expert as safe. The policy is fake authority, not AI.
