    A faceless YouTube channel is a narrator who does not change, a script, pictures, and captions. It is not a new voice every Tuesday. Five voice tools will read that script.     What faceless narration actually is

    A typical video is 8 to 12 minutes. At about 150 words a minute that is 1,200 to 1,800 words, roughly 7,000 to 11,000 characters including spaces. Inworld's pricing table treats about 1,000 characters as a minute. Plan the meter on characters, not on "one video."

    The stack is four files:

    • A script written for the ear (short sentences, names spelled as spoken)
    • A narrator that is the same person every episode
    • Pictures that match the line (stock, generate, or screencast)
    • Burned-in captions

    Retakes are the trap. A 10-minute generate you reject is a 10-minute bill. Audition a 20-second paragraph. Then commit the chapter.

    The five tools

    1. ElevenLabs. Start here if the channel is a person you cloned with consent, or a stock voice you will not change for a year. ElevenLabs pricing (read 20 September 2026): Starter $6, 30k credits, commercial license, instant cloning. Creator $22, 121k credits, $11 first month, professional cloning. Pro $99, 600k credits. Standard TTS is about 1 credit per character on that FAQ, so an 8,000-character episode is about 8,000 credits before retries. Starter's 30k credits are roughly three of those episodes. Creator's 121k credits are about fifteen. Music is 900 credits a minute on the same pile. Do not score the episode on ElevenLabs Music and then wonder where the narrator budget went. Professional cloning is the faceless-channel SKU. Instant cloning is a trailer SKU.

    2. Murf. Open Murf when the episode is a session: chapters on a timeline, pauses, a music bed you duck, a pronunciation dictionary for the same ten product names every week. Murf's voice cloning roundup (15 September 2026) lists Creator at $19 a month billed annually ($228), Growth at $66 ($792), Business at $199, free at 10 minutes. The workspace help article (14 September 2026) gives Creator 2 hours of voice a month on monthly billing, or 24 hours a year on yearly. A weekly 10-minute episode is about 40 minutes a month, which is over Creator's monthly 2 hours and inside Growth's 8 hours.     3. Versely. A faceless channel is thousands of characters a week on the same pool that already pays for pictures. AI text-to-speech is the door. Pin Inworld TTS 2 at 2 credits per 1,000 characters: an 8,000-character episode is 16 credits. Pin Cartesia Sonic 3.5 at 4 credits per 1,000 characters only if that is the sound you will keep for a year. Use Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS at 12 credits per 1,000 characters when the episode is host-and-guest dialogue in one call. The rule is the pin. Do not recast next Tuesday because a demo sounded warmer. Do not convert 16 credits into a USD line item. This is not Murf's session tools and not a WellSaid actor your brand already licensed. It is one narrator row next to the pictures.

    4. WellSaid. Open WellSaid when the narrator has to be a consented actor, and you iterate a lot before you download. WellSaid pricing (read 20 September 2026) meters downloads, not generates. Starter is $19 a month ($10 yearly) with 20 minutes a month or 240 minutes a year, commercial rights, unlimited generation. Pro is $49 a month ($33 yearly) with 180 minutes a month or 2,160 a year. A weekly 10-minute episode is about 40 minutes a month, which overflows Starter's monthly 20 and fits Pro. Yearly Starter at 240 minutes is about 24 ten-minute videos, a fortnightly show, not a weekly one. WellSaid is expensive if you download every take. It is rational if you iterate in the studio and download once.

    5. OpenAI TTS. Open the API when the channel is volume, the voice is a stock speaker, and you already have a prepaid balance. OpenAI API pricing (read 20 September 2026) lists tts-1 at $15 per 1M characters. An 8,000-character episode is $0.12. tts-1-hd is $30 per 1M, $0.24 an episode. gpt-4o-mini-tts is $0.60 per 1M text tokens in and $12 per 1M audio tokens out. There is no professional clone of you on this endpoint. There is no Dubbing Studio. There is a consistent stock voice if you pin the same speaker every episode. Pin it. Do not rotate alloy and nova because you were bored. The audience will think you recast the show.

    Write the cadence and the minutes.

    After the narrator is locked

    Write for the ear. Spell "Nura Glow" the way it should be heard. Chunk long chapters. A 10-minute wall of paragraph will flatten on every engine.

    Pictures next. Then captions. Mute YouTube still happens. Burn type. Keep URLs and prices in overlay so a sponsor change is not a new TTS bill.

    How long is a 10-minute faceless script?

    Plan on 1,500 words, about 8,000 to 10,000 characters with spaces. Time a cold read. If you cannot speak it in 10 minutes, cut. Character meters follow the text, not the target runtime.

    Can I change the voice after 20 episodes?

    You can. Viewers will treat it as a recast. Lock the engine and the speaker before episode one. If you must change, start a new series or say so in the first 10 seconds.
