ElevenLabs $11 is the first month

ElevenLabs Creator is $22 a month. The $11 on the pricing card is first month only. Music at 900 credits a minute shares the same pool as TTS. Professional Voice Cloning is why you buy Creator. A 15-second ad voiceover is Starter, or Versely TTS.

I re-read elevenlabs.io/pricing on 19 September 2026. The Creator card prints $11 per month with $22 First month 50% off in the same block. The FAQ on that page is the honest ladder: Creator is $22 for 121,000 credits, $11 for the first month. If you budget $11 forever, month two is the invoice.

The $11 on the card is month one

Enterprise is custom. Prices exclude taxes. That table is ElevenLabs' own FAQ plus the cards above it, not a third-party scrape.

The Creator tile is the trap. It leads with $11. The $22 sits in smaller type as the thing you are 50% off of. Checkout still enrolls you in Creator. Month two bills $22 unless you change the plan. Annual billing is not an $11 lock either. The same FAQ says annual is two months free (you pay for 10 months). The equivalent monthly price it lists for Creator is $18.33, not $11.

Starter at $6 already includes a commercial license, Instant Voice Cloning, music commercial use, and Dubbing Studio. Creator's public bullets on that page are Professional Voice Cloning and a larger credit pile. You are not buying a cheaper TTS brand. You are buying PVC, plus 121k instead of 30k.

Rollover does not rescue a first-month cancel. Unused credits roll over for up to two months, up to 2× the monthly quota, so the balance can reach 3× the monthly quota, only while you keep an active paid subscription and do not downgrade or cancel. Downgrade or cancel, and unused paid credits expire at the end of the cycle. Free has no rollover. Pay-as-you-go top-ups sit outside that cap. The $11 month is a discount on the seat, not a cheaper forever pool you can drain and walk away from.

The compare table on the same page lists extra TTS minutes at about $0.36 on Free, $0.20 on Starter, $0.18 on Creator, and $0.17 from Pro up. Those are overage hints, not a reason to take Creator for a handful of ad reads. Per included credit, Starter is $6 / 30,000 and Creator is $22 / 121,000. The gap is small. PVC is the product difference that is not a rounding error.

Music burns the same credits as speech

ElevenLabs does not give you a TTS bucket and a music bucket. The pricing FAQ is blunt: credits are shared across every product. Using one leaves fewer for the others.

Approximate burns from that FAQ, 19 September 2026:

• Text to Speech: 1 credit per character on V2 Multilingual. Flash and Turbo API usage can sit between 0.5 and 1 credit per character.
• Eleven Music: 900 credits per minute.
• Speech to Text: 330 credits per minute.
• Sound effects: 200 credits per generation.
• Voice Changer and Voice Isolator: 1,000 credits per minute.
• Dubbing: 2,000 credits per minute automatic with watermark, 3,000 automatic without, 5,000 Dubbing Studio with watermark, 10,000 Dubbing Studio without watermark.

Music is the quiet leak. A three-minute track is 2,700 credits. Ten of those is 27,000, which is almost the entire Starter pool before you speak a word. Creator's 121,000 credits is about 134 minutes of music at 900 a minute, or 121,000 V2 Multilingual characters of speech, not both stacked on top of each other. Generate the beds first and the narration budget is whatever is left.

A 15-second music sting is 225 credits (900 × 0.25). That still looks cheap until you iterate. Eight beds to pick one is 1,800 credits. Do that twice a week and you have spent more on unused music than on the voiceover that ships.

Dubbing is worse. One minute of Dubbing Studio without a watermark is 10,000 credits. Three minutes is 30,000, which is Starter in a single pass. That is why 121k exists as a volume number. It is not why a 15-second product ad needs Creator.

If the job is a bed under a talking clip, do not assume Eleven Music is "included" on Creator the way a seat includes a feature flag. It is included the way TTS is included: it spends the same counter. On Versely, beds and speech are different rows. The AI music generator is the music path. Speech is not tax on that path.

ElevenLabs' compare table lists about 10 minutes of TTS on Free, 30 on Starter, 121 on Creator, 600 on Pro. Those minute figures line up with 1,000 credits as a rough minute of V2 speech. Music at 900 credits a minute is almost the same burn rate as that TTS minute. A "Creator month of voice" that you also use for songs is not a Creator month of voice.

PVC is the Creator product

Instant Voice Cloning is a Starter feature. Professional Voice Cloning is not.

ElevenLabs' own PVC docs (read the same day as the pricing page) are the slot list:

• Free and Starter: no PVC slots
• Creator, Pro, and the legacy Scale plan: 1 PVC slot
• Scale and the legacy Business plan: 3 PVC slots
• Business: 10 PVC slots
• Enterprise: custom

That is the gate. Creator is the first plan that will train a dedicated model of your voice. Starter will do Instant Voice Cloning from about 1 to 2 minutes of clean audio. PVC wants a lot more. The docs recommend a 30-minute floor and closer to two or three hours for a serious clone. Fine-tuning is usually 3 to 6 hours in the queue, sometimes longer. You clone your own voice. You verify it. You cannot PVC someone else, even with consent. They have to train on their account and share the voice.

Downgrade below Creator and the clone can stay on the account, but you cannot use it until you are back on Creator or above. The $11 intro does not create a PVC you can keep on Starter. If the clone is the reason you clicked Creator, month two at $22 is the real price of keeping it live.

Creator also lists 30 custom voice slots in the compare table, against 10 on Starter and 3 on Free. Pro jumps to 160. Those slots are not PVC slots. One PVC is the Creator default. Extra PVC slots come from Scale, Business, Enterprise, or from a Voice Library "Studio Quality" grant if you share a clone. Do not read "30 custom voices" as "30 professional clones."

Buy Creator when the job is a verified, fine-tuned replica of your own voice that has to hold across a series: a founder podcast, a course, a branded narrator you will not recast. That is a $22 product with a $11 first invoice. Buy Starter when Instant Voice Cloning or a stock voice is enough. Buy nothing extra when the read is a 15-second ad and the identity is "a clear voice," not "this specific person."

PVC is also slow relative to an ad sprint. You record, you process, you verify, you wait for fine-tuning, then you generate. A 15-second promo that has to ship this afternoon is not a PVC workflow. It is a stock voice or an Instant clone, and both of those live on Starter.

A 15-second ad VO is not a Creator job

A 15-second ad is a few dozen words. On V2 Multilingual that is a few hundred characters, billed 1 credit per character. Starter is 30,000 credits. One take is a rounding error. A month of daily 15-second reads at 300 characters is 9,000 credits if every take ships. Two retries each still fit Starter. The $6 plan is built for that volume. Creator's 121,000 credits are for people who already know why 30,000 ran out, or who need the PVC slot.

Free is 10,000 credits, about 10 minutes of TTS on ElevenLabs' own compare table. Enough to hear a voice. Not a production month if you iterate, and not a commercial license. Starter is the first paid rung that prints commercial use. That is the honest 15-second ad seat on ElevenLabs. Creator is the honest PVC seat.

You do not need ElevenLabs at all for a stock 15-second read. On Versely, AI text to speech is the tool. Inworld TTS 2 is 2 credits per 1,000 characters. A 15-second script is under that 1,000-character unit, so you are on the 2-credit floor, not on a 121,000-credit subscription. Credits here are credits. They are not ElevenLabs dollars and they are not a USD price for Versely.

Stay on ElevenLabs when the clone has to be that PVC, in that account, with their verification. Leave when the job is "make the line sound finished" and you still have to drop the wav onto a video, caption it, and ship. The alternatives page covers Murf, Play.ht, Cartesia, and the rest by job. This page does not. The only decision here is whether $11 is the plan. It is not. It is month one of $22, paid for PVC.
