When Hailuo 2.3 is the right cheap row

Hailuo 2.3 Fast, Standard, and Pro only sell 6s and 10s. Use the cheap row when that length is the job.

    Versely Team••7 min read

Hailuo 2.3 is the right cheap row when 6 or 10 seconds of motion from a still is the whole job. The three published cards all sell only those two durations. Hailuo 2.3 Fast is image-to-video, 6s / 10s, 28 credits, discounted. Hailuo 2.3 Standard is image-to-video and text-to-video, 6s / 10s, 1080p, 28 credits, audio false, requires an image. Hailuo 2.3 Pro is the same duration pair at 1080p, 49 credits, audio false, requires an image. If the shot needs 7 seconds, you buy 10. If the shot needs 15, 30, native dialogue, or 4K talking cinematic, this family is the wrong cheap. Cheap wins when the menu matches.

This is a when-to-use router. It is not Fast versus Standard quality, and it is not the staircase-cost explainer for leftover seconds.

Cheap is a length contract first

Most “cheap video” shopping starts at the credit number. Hailuo’s number is 28 on Fast and Standard, 49 on Pro. The number that actually gates the job is 6s or 10s. There is no 4s, no 8s, no 12s. A seven-second idea pays for ten. A five-second idea pays for six and you cut. That is not a trim. Trimming does not refund.

Fast is the volume I2V rung: one still in, a short cinematic clip out, discounted 28 credits. Audio is unset on the Fast card — do not plan a talking-head contract. Standard lists 1080p and audio false. Pro lists 1080p, 49 credits, audio false. All three require an image on the published req flag (Fast, Standard, Pro). Standard and Pro also list text-to-video in categories, but the image requirement is still true on the card. Bring a still. If you only have a sentence, you wanted a T2V row that does not require an image: Kling 3 Turbo Text to Video (silent, 3–15s, 12 credits) or Gemini Omni Video (4–10s, 9 credits).

    When cheap wins:

    • You already approved a still. You need steam, a slow push, a hand, a turn — 6 or 10 seconds, feed size.
    • You will iterate. Fast’s discount and 28 credits are a sketch loop. Do not sketch on Veo at 40 or 64 credits.
    • Audio will be added later, or the shot has no mouth. Standard and Pro are audio false. A silent plate plus Cartesia Sonic 3.5 is a legal finishing path when we do not see a talking mouth.
    • 1080p is enough. Pro and Standard list 1080p. This is not a 4K Veo plate.

    When cheap loses:

    • Native 16–30s hold. Seedance 2.5, 4–30s, 720p, 47 credits, audio on.
    • Always-on dialogue, 4K cinematic. Veo 3.1, 4 / 6 / 8s, 40 credits.
    • Copied choreography. Kling V3 motion control.
    • A 15-second silent 1080p sentence with no still. Kling Turbo.
    • A 5s/8s flourish or a named transition. PixVerse V6 / Transition.

The cheap row is right when you would be embarrassed to have spent Veo money on the same 6-second product twitch.

Fast, Standard, Pro — pick by why you are here, not by “premium”

You already have a Fast vs Standard quality post elsewhere. The router for this page is simpler.

Default Fast when the still is the brief and the clip will live in a feed. 28 credits, discounted, I2V only, 6s or 10s. Hunt the take here. If Fast’s motion is enough at phone size, stop. Do not “upgrade” a keeper for the sake of the word Pro.

Standard when you want the 1080p listing and the same 28 credits without the Fast discount flag, on a card that also names T2V in categories — still bring the still (req: true). Audio remains false. Standard is not a talking upgrade.

Pro when the still is a hero and 49 credits is the approved spend for 6s or 10s at 1080p. Pro is not 4K. Pro is not 15s. Pro is not native audio. If those three are why you reached for Pro, you reached for the wrong family.

Do not run all three on the first still. Pick Fast to see whether the plate wants motion at all. Spend Pro only on the still you would print.

Hailuo 02 sits next to them as a different card: Hailuo 02, text-to-video, 1080p, 8 credits, audio false. It is not 2.3, and it does not reprint the 6s/10s pair in the published duration list. Do not mix 02 into a 2.3 duration plan.

How to spend 28 credits without turning them into Veo money

Lock the still first. Flux 2 Max is a 7-credit stills row if you need photoreal before motion. Hailuo will animate whatever you give it, including a bad label.

Pick 6s unless the camera move actually needs 10. A slow orbit that completes at 9 seconds buys 10. A twitch of steam buys 6. Two 6-second clips cost the same as one 10-second clip on Fast/Standard’s 28 and give you a cut. Use two 6s when you wanted a cut. Use 10s when you wanted a hold.

Write motion, not a commercial. “Slow push in, steam from the cup, locked product, no speech, no music, 6 seconds.” Hailuo is not a place to paste five scenes. You do not have the length.

Finish off-model. Captions: add captions to video. Voice: TTS, only if the mouth is not the shot. Disclosure: Article 50 template if you deploy a realistic synthetic to the EU.

If Fast already failed the still three times (melted label, melted hand, camera drift), stop cheap-looping. The still may want I2V on a different family, or the job may have been R2V (recast) rather than I2V (frame one). Cheap does not fix a category error.

The AI video generator and image-to-video tools are the doors. Confirm 6s or 10s before you write “about 8 seconds” in the prompt. The staircase will round you.

UGC volume is the honest Hailuo 2.3 home: many stills, short motion, feed delivery, audio later or never. The UGC term is the genre. 6s/10s is the SKU. When the slate is thirty-second testimonials, leave.

Cheap next to the other short rows

Hailuo 2.3 is not the only short clip. It is the short I2V clip with a two-step duration ladder.

Kling 3 Turbo is cheaper at 12 credits and longer (3–15s) but it is T2V and silent. No still required. If you have no plate, Turbo is the cheap row, not Hailuo.

Pixverse V6 Text to Video is 9 credits at 5s or 8s. Flourish T2V. If you have no plate and you wanted energy, V6. If you have a plate, Hailuo.

Gemini Omni Video is 9 credits at 4–10s with a 4K listing and a multimodal quota. Different look, different door. Not the 28-credit I2V sketch.

Omni 1.1’s 360p drafts (Google, 27 August 2026) are a cheap Omni loop on Google’s surface, not a Hailuo substitute. Do not import 60% / one-third onto Fast.

Cheap wins on Hailuo when: you have the still, 6 or 10 seconds is enough, the mouth is not the product, 1080p is enough. Every other cheap row is a different input or a different length menu. Match those first.

If 6 or 10 seconds from a still is the job, sign up and open Hailuo 2.3 Fast. Move to Standard or Pro only for a reason the card actually lists.

    FAQ

    Why can’t I generate 7 seconds on Hailuo 2.3?

Fast, Standard, and Pro publish 6s and 10s only. Seven seconds buys the 10s SKU. That rounding is the catalog, not a trim you can refund.

Is Fast the one I should default to?

Yes, when the job is I2V volume at 6s or 10s. 28 credits, discounted. Standard is 28 credits at 1080p with audio false. Pro is 49 credits at 1080p with audio false. None of them add native dialogue or extra durations.

When is cheap the wrong word?

When you needed length, 4K, or a talking mouth in-shot. Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, and Kling O3 Pro are those jobs. Hailuo 2.3 cheap wins when 6s/10s from a still is enough.
