HeyGen avatar price 2026: plans
HeyGen avatar price 19 Sept 2026: Creator $29/mo (600 credits), Pro from $49, Business $149 plus $20/seat. Avatar IV burns more than Avatar III.
HeyGen avatar price is a subscription plus a credit burn per minute of the avatar engine you actually run. It is not "unlimited talking heads for $29." Recheck heygen.com/pricing before you send a quote. The plan ladder on 19 September 2026 is below. Credit rates per engine sit on a second table that HeyGen restates in help docs.
This page is the bill. The alternatives map stays at HeyGen alternatives 2026. Talking-photo lipsync is a different product from a HeyGen digital twin. Do not buy a twin seat for a one-still UGC ad.
Plan prices from HeyGen's public page (19 Sept 2026)
Copied from heygen.com/pricing on 19 September 2026. Annual billing is cheaper on Creator. Pro and Business scale credits, not a different editor.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (effective / mo) | Credits / month | Video cap | Export |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | none listed | 3 videos, 1 minute each | Standard processing, 500+ stock avatars, 1 custom video avatar |
| Creator | $29 | $24 | 600 | 30 minutes | 1080p, fast processing, unlimited photo avatars, watermark off |
| Pro | $49 starting | listed cheaper on annual | 1,000 starting | 30 minutes | 4K, faster processing. Tiers scale credits up to 100,000 / mo at $4,300 |
| Business | $149 first seat | listed cheaper on annual | 1,500 | 60 minutes | 4K, 5 custom video avatars, +$20 per extra seat |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | custom | custom | no public max | MFA, SCIM, invoice billing |
HeyGen's own FAQ on that page:
- Free is three videos a month, no card required.
- Credits are the single currency. Burn depends on model, duration, and complexity.
- Monthly unused credits roll over for one extra month. Annual credits accumulate until the annual renewal. Cancel and leftover credits do not carry onto Free.
- Creator and Pro buy more credits by upgrading. Business can buy one-time packs or auto-reload.
- Pro tiers share features. Only the monthly credit allocation changes.
A 22 July 2026 capture of HeyGen's add-on layer (UsagePricing) listed extra Video Avatar slots at $29/month or $300/year, LiveAvatar slots at $49/month, and Business credit top-ups at $0.05 per credit in 100-credit blocks. Those add-ons are not the Creator sticker. If the client needs a sixth custom twin, you are off the $29 story.
Credits per minute are the real avatar price
The $29 is the door. The avatar price is credits per minute of the engine you pick.
HeyGen's public usage examples, restated in third-party captures of the credit table in August 2026 (Anam, 21 Aug 2026 and HeyGen's Avatar IV help text as quoted by AnyGen):
| Engine | Credits (public examples) | What that means on Creator (600 credits) |
|---|---|---|
| Avatar III | 3 credits / minute | On the order of 200 minutes if you never touch anything else |
| Avatar IV / Avatar V | 20 credits / minute (Avatar IV help: 1 credit per 3 seconds) | On the order of 30 minutes |
| Video Agent | 20-30 credits / minute depending on mode in the July 22 capture | A handful of long sessions, not a month of ads |
| Audio-only translation | 2 credits / minute in those tables | Cheap compared with a precision lip-sync pass |
| Translation with lip-sync | 5 credits / minute standard, higher for precision | Do not treat dubbing as free |
Those per-minute numbers are the ones that break a quote. A weekly 3-minute Avatar IV presenter is about 60 credits a week, 240 a month, inside Creator if that is the only job. The same week in Avatar IV plus a precision dub plus a second look for the French cut is how a "cheap" Creator seat is empty by the 12th.
Recheck the live credit table in the account. HeyGen has already moved Video Agent rates once this summer. Do not freeze a 20 credits/minute assumption into a 12-month SOW.
Photo avatars (talking stills) are listed as unlimited on Creator and Pro. That is not the same meter as Avatar IV digital twin minutes. If the shot is one still talking, you may not need the twin slot at all.
What a 600-credit Creator month actually holds
A Creator month is 600 credits, 1080p, 30-minute cap, unlimited photo avatars, voice cloning, 175+ languages. It is a solo-presenter kit, not an agency seat.
Worked examples using the public 20 credits/minute Avatar IV figure (recheck the live table):
- Two 60-second Avatar IV explainers a week: 40 credits/week, about 160/month. Fits. Leaves room for a dub.
- One 10-minute Avatar IV course module a week: 200 credits/week. Creator is empty after three modules. That is a Pro conversation.
- Ten 15-second photo-avatar ads: photo avatars are listed unlimited on Creator, so the limiter is taste and the rest of the edit, not the 600.
The mistake is quoting Creator as "unlimited avatar video" because the marketing line says unlimited photo avatars. Photo avatar and Avatar IV are different meters. The FAQ on HeyGen's pricing page is explicit that credits vary by model, duration, and complexity.
If the client needs 4K, proofread translation scripts, or a pool above 1,000 credits, you are on Pro. If they need five named twins, SSO, and a 60-minute cap, you are on Business. Do not stretch Creator to cover those.
Twin seat versus talking-photo on Versely
HeyGen is the right bill when the product is a recurring presenter: same face, new script, many languages, a team that already lives in that editor. The HeyGen Avatar V5 digital twin row exists on Versely for teams that want that engine inside a mixed catalog instead of a second login.
It is the wrong bill when:
- The ad is a handheld UGC body, not a desk twin. That is UGC video, not Avatar IV.
- The shot is one still that has to talk once. Talking-photo / lipsync is cheaper than a custom twin slot. See talking-photo is not a UGC avatar.
- You also need captions, music, and a 30-second generate in the same afternoon. Pay the twin for the twin. Burn mute text with the AI caption generator. Do not rent HeyGen as a caption tool.
Versely credits are a different meter. There is no honest "HeyGen $29 equals N Versely credits" line. Quote the twin job in HeyGen minutes, or quote the Versely row, not both mashed into one fake dollar.
Sign up at https://app.versely.studio/signup when the week is mixed models plus captions, or when the twin is one named row rather than the whole studio.
FAQ
How much does a HeyGen avatar cost per month?
On 19 September 2026, Creator is $29/month ($24 billed annually) with 600 credits. Pro starts at $49/month with 1,000 credits. Business is $149/month plus $20 per extra seat with 1,500 credits. Extra custom video avatar slots were listed as a paid add-on in HeyGen's July 2026 pricing pass. Recheck heygen.com/pricing.
How many minutes of Avatar IV do I get on Creator?
Public examples put Avatar IV around 20 credits per minute, so 600 credits is on the order of 30 minutes if you spend the pool on nothing else. Avatar III examples sit at 3 credits per minute. The live credit table in the account wins over this paragraph.
Is HeyGen cheaper than a talking-photo lipsync row?
For a recurring named presenter with dubbing, HeyGen's seat is often the simpler bill. For a one-still ad, photo avatars or a lipsync pass are a different product and usually a smaller burn. Pick the shot first. The HeyGen alternatives page is the stack map, not this price list.
