    Kling O3 is the model people reach for when the camera itself is the star of the shot — the whip-pan, the slow orbit, the push-through-a-doorway reveal. But the prompts that unlock that control read differently from generic video prompts: less mood, more mechanics. Kling O3 prompting works best when you describe cause and effect — what moves, what it collides with, what the camera does in response — because the model is unusually good at honoring physical logic when you actually give it some. Here's the structure that gets you there, with worked prompts, before/after fixes, and the traps that burn credits.

    Start from the move, not the mood

    Most video prompts start with the subject. For Kling O3, start with the camera — decide the move first, then build the scene the move travels through. Prompts organized this way come out noticeably more intentional:

    Camera: slow 180-degree orbit, waist height. Subject: a chef plating a dessert in a dark kitchen, single overhead spotlight. As the camera passes behind him, steam from the plate crosses the lens. Audio-free; add sound in post.

    The orbit came first, and everything else — spotlight, steam crossing the lens — exists to give the move something to reveal. Compare that to "a chef plates a dessert, cinematic orbit shot" tacked on at the end: same words, far weaker geometry, because the scene wasn't designed around the move.

    Cause-and-effect motion beats adjective motion

    The "reasoning" in this model's reputation shows up when your prompt contains physical logic to reason about. Write motion as a chain: this happens, so that happens.

    Adjective motion (weak): "A skateboarder does an amazing dynamic trick, epic slow motion."

    Cause-and-effect motion (strong): "A skateboarder ollies off a three-stair set; the board's tail clips the last step, he stumbles on landing and catches himself against a railing. Handheld camera flinches with the impact. Golden hour, long shadows."

    The second prompt gives the model consequences to compute — the clipped tail causes the stumble, the stumble causes the railing catch, the impact causes the camera flinch. Kling O3 rewards this style more than any other prompt pattern we've tested. Use it for anything involving collisions, weight, liquids, cloth, or crowds:

    A waiter carrying a loaded tray pushes through swinging kitchen doors; the doors clip the tray edge, glasses slide but he tilts the tray and recovers. Tracking shot backward through the doors ahead of him.

    One warning: keep the chain to two or three links. Five-step Rube Goldberg prompts collapse into mush — sequence longer chains across multiple clips instead.

    Image-to-video: direct the photo, don't re-describe it

    With Kling O3 Pro image-to-video, your image already answers who, where, and what it looks like. The prompt's whole job is what happens next — motion, camera, and physics. The classic mistake is re-describing the image ("a woman in a red coat stands on a bridge at sunset…"), which wastes words and can fight the pixels. Direct instead:

    From the image: she turns from the railing and walks toward camera, coat lifting in the wind. Camera pulls back to keep her in frame, revealing the length of the bridge. Wind picks up near the end of the shot.

    Three rules for i2v direction:

    1. Animate what's plausible from the frame. If her hands are in her pockets, don't prompt her waving in the first second.
    2. Give the camera a job — pull-back, push-in, or hold — or the model will guess.
    3. Add one environmental motion (wind, rain, passing traffic, flickering light). It sells the shot as video rather than a warped photo.

    Motion control: when prompting isn't enough

    Some motion can't be reliably described in words — a specific dance, a precise gesture sequence, a fight choreography beat.     Before/after: two fixes worth stealing

    Weak: "Epic car chase through a city, fast camera, action movie style." Fixed: "A silver coupe takes a hard left through a narrow alley; trash bins scatter off its fender. Camera: low chase position behind the rear bumper, swinging wide on the turn. Night, wet asphalt, sodium streetlights." The fix: one turn, one consequence (scattering bins), one camera position with one described response. "Fast camera" is not a camera instruction.

    Weak: "A flag waves dramatically on a mountain." Fixed: "Static tripod shot: a weathered expedition flag snaps in strong gusts on a rocky summit, fabric rippling in waves, guy-lines vibrating. Gusts strengthen mid-shot, then ease. Overcast flat light." The fix: wind became an event with a shape (strengthen, then ease) instead of an adjective, and the locked camera makes the fabric physics the whole show.

    Failure modes and fast fixes

    • Camera does a different move than asked → you named two moves, or buried the move at the end. Lead with "Camera:" as its own sentence.
    • Physics goes cartoonish → your chain skipped a step; add the intermediate consequence ("clips the step, so he stumbles").
    • i2v subject teleports or warps → the prompted first action wasn't reachable from the image's pose. Prompt a bridging motion first.
    • Orbit drifts or reverses → specify degrees and height ("90-degree orbit, chest height") instead of "orbit around."
