Detailing UGC is the car in the bay

Detailing UGC is the car in the bay. Film that customer's paint; a generated before/after is a different vehicle.

Detailing UGC is the car in the bay. The production constraint is that customer’s paint: the unit that rolled in, the swirl that was actually there, the finish you actually left, with a grant that covers this recut. A generated “before” of a filthier car is a different vehicle. A generated ceramic-bead hero on a cliff is a different job. Film the bay. Put the number plate in the shot list even if you blur it in the ad — you need to know which car you photographed.

This is not auto UGC. Auto on this site is the VIN you can sell on a lot. Detailing is a service on a car you do not own. The customer still holds the keys. It is also not local-services UGC in general. The job site here is a bay, and the SKU is a finish on someone else’s metal.

UGC ads still show about 4× click-through and about 50% lower CPC, and 86% of brands say UGC lifts performance (Kapwing 2026; Billo). 92% of consumers trust a peer over a brand message in the same stack. A peer in detailing owns the car, or is the tech whose hands are on the panel. Human UGC still rates 81% on authenticity against 63% for AI UGC (Kapwing 2026; archive.com / creator.co). The gap is orange peel and whether the badge spacing is year-correct.

The bay car is not a stock number

You are not selling the car. You are selling a process on a car. If the unit in the ad is a customer’s, the customer agreed to this use. If it is a shop car, say it is a shop car. If it is a manufacturer loan, say that. Passing a loaner off as “this morning’s drop-off” is a testimonial you invented about demand.

    On camera:

    • The actual unit in the bay. Phone is enough. Include the stone chip you did not claim to fix.
    • Interior of that unit if the SKU is interior. Do not insert a generated night panorama of a different headliner.
    • Product in hand: the bottle you used, label toward lens. Do not re-letter a generated ceramic. Pick a human when the hands matter is the polish, the clay, the towel — not a generated “nano ritual.”
    • Water on that paint, if water is the proof. Record the beading. Do not generate beads on a dry panel.

    Do not:

    • Generate a dirtier before.
    • Remove a dent in generate to “clean the hero” unless the SKU was paint correction you actually did, and the after is the same car in the same light.
    • Change colourways because the brief said red and the bay is white.
    • Place the car on a coastline you do not work from.
    • Use another shop’s bay as yours.

OEM brand films of a coating on a concept car are brand film. A detailer’s Saturday ad cannot. If a customer can book a bay this week, the pictures are of a car that was in one.

Plates, VIN, and dash cameras: blur what you do not need. A plate in a paid ad is a likeness of a car plus, often, a person’s address pattern. Crop. Do not generate a fake plate as a workaround; that is still a car you invented.

    Before/after of that paint

The honest pair is two frames of the same panel, same lens height, same light honesty, same car. It is not a prompt for “filthy crossover, cinematic mud.” Inventing the dirt inflates the save.

    Rules for pairs:

    • Same panel, same car, dated files you can stand behind.
    • No inpainting of extra swirl, extra tar, extra water spots.
    • No stock “muddy rally car” as your Tuesday.
    • If you do not have a before, skip the pair. After-only is still UGC. A fake before is a different job.

A customer on camera describing the finish is a testimonial ad. They own the car, they agreed to this use, the words are theirs. A generated owner saying “it looks brand new” is a fabricated review. Star overlays you cannot document are the same problem in type.

Usage rights for a customer’s car are a grant, not a signed invoice. A card payment is not Ads Manager. FTC endorsement disclosure still applies if you discounted the job for the reel.

New York’s synthetic-performer law (N.Y. GBL § 396-b, in force 9 June 2026) requires conspicuous disclosure of generated human performers in ads that can reach New York consumers. $1,000 first, $5,000 subsequent. A fake owner leaning on a wing is a performer. The statute does not cover the car as an object. That does not make a fake car a real job. Article 50 wants a first-exposure label on photoreal people and places for EU audiences since 2 August 2026. A labelled fake cliff is still a fake location. Use the Article 50 disclosure template.

YouTube’s 27 May 2026 labelling pass (YouTube Blog) overlays photoreal or meaningfully AI-altered Shorts. Labels do not turn a synthetic bead into a coating you applied.

Minors: do not put a child in the back seat as atmosphere, generated or real, in a paid ad. Empty cabin, adult owner who agreed, or no people.

    Customer consent and the bay

A busy Saturday bay is full of identifiable people and other customers’ cars. Last week’s story is not Ads Manager. A job sheet is not a paid-media release unless it says so.

Paper, before you roll for ads:

    • The owner of the car in frame: paid social, term, withdrawal, whether the plate may show.
    • Other cars and faces in the bay: crop, shoot closed hours, or angle off the neighbour’s bumper.
    • Staff: employment plus a grant. Do not cut a tech as a “customer who just loves it here.”
    • Landlords and shared units: the unit’s rules on filming other tenants’ cars.

Copy lies in detailing as often as pictures. “Ceramic,” “graphene,” “certified,” warranty months — each is a spec. UGC VO that inflates them is still an ad. Write the allowed lines from the product TDS and from the warranty you will honour. Burn the disclaimer in a size a phone can read. The AI caption generator is for locking those strings, not for adding a year to the warranty.

Safety: do not film or generate a tech on a live ramp without the protection you actually use. Do not show a polish as a joke on a matte wrap you would not touch. Do not put a child next to a buffer.

Captions: burn the package name as the price list names it, the site name, the booking URL. Auto-captions will hear “ceramic” as “see ramick.” Keep the block off the panel. The panel is the proof. Burned-in captions survive mute.

Audio: buffers and pressure washers are allowed. A radio-spot VO is a studio tell. Do not add a whoosh on every wipe. Do not steal a chart hit for the reveal.

YouTube’s inauthentic-content policy, as reported by Mashable on 21 July 2026, includes synthetic personas presenting as human authorities on finance. A detailing ad that wanders into loan or insurance outcomes with a fake owner is that bucket. Keep finance off the panel.

Polish is hands, not a generate

Detailers already have phone footage: a tech’s story, a bead shot, a bay after hours. Sort it by grant, not by vibe. The generate layer is captions, crop, and a hook over B-roll you filmed. It is not a new car.

    A shape that stays honest:

    1. First second: the panel, or the bottle, or the bay. Not a talking head in an office.
    2. One objection, spoken or captioned. “Yes, it had swirls. Here is the same wing.”
    3. One mechanical proof: the pair, the TDS, the towel that is actually dirty.
    4. CTA: book, hours, the bay address. One.

The UGC video generator can wrap a real panel clip with a tech you recorded and burned-in package names. Do not prompt it for “a red supercar on a cliff at golden hour.” Prompt it to caption the white hatchback in the bay.

Veo 3.1 will invent a handsome car in 4 / 6 / 8 seconds at 40 credits with native audio. Handsome is a different VIN. Keep Veo off the booking ad. If you need motion on a still of the finished panel, Wan 2.7 Image to Video is 15 credits, 1080p, 2–15 seconds, audio null — a mute push on paint you photographed. Do not prompt extra beads.

66% of creators offer UGC services and the creator population grew 93% year on year (Kapwing 2026; creator.co). A creator whose car is in the bay is a customer; paper the job if you comped it. A creator in front of a generated car is a presenter. 87% of brands use UGC and 16% have a strategy. The strategy here is: that customer’s paint, pairs you shot, no synthetic dirt, no synthetic cliff.

If the cut still works after you change the bay name, you did not film the car. Put the panel in frame one.

    Caption the bay in Versely.

    FAQ

Can I generate a dirtier before if the after is the real car?

No. A fake before is a lie about the job. If you do not have a before you shot, skip the pair.

Can I use a manufacturer hero of the coating?

Not as this bay’s UGC. Brand film can exist, labelled as brand film. The booking ad is the car that was in the bay.

Do I need the customer on camera?

No. The panel is the product. A voice over the bead is detailing UGC. A face helps when it is the owner or a tech, labelled as such, with a grant.
