    6 apps that caption a generated clip

    CapCut, VEED, OpusClip, Versely, Submagic, and Descript caption an AI MP4. Pick by timeline, browser burn, clipper, family, templates, or transcript.

    You have an MP4 nobody filmed. A model returned motion, and sometimes a voice. Mute viewers still need words on the pixels. Six apps will caption that file. CapCut drops auto captions on the import. VEED transcribes in the browser and burns at export. OpusClip is the clipper that also dresses shorts. Versely is a caption family on a locked generate. Submagic is the viral template burn. Descript is the transcript editor if the bake is mostly speech. This page is that list. It is not a Versely landing page. It is not a generate tutorial.

    A generate is not a captioned file. Veo 3.1 can return native audio. That soundtrack is still silent in a muted feed. Asking the model to paint large yellow captions is how you get cousin spelling you cannot edit. Typeset after picture lock.

    A generated file is still silent on mute

    Three objects get collapsed into one sentence.

    The generate. Text-to-video, image-to-video, a talking presenter row. The file may have baked sound or it may be silent. Kling Turbo on this catalog is silent. Veo is not. Treat the mix as a soundtrack, not a caption track.

    The transcript. Speech-to-text on whatever audio is actually in the file. Synthetic voices still miss SKUs. Native-audio bakes still miss numbers. ASR does not know your bottle is Lumina-8.

    The burn. Styled, timed type composited into the frames so the feed cannot switch it off. That is burned-in captions. Platform auto captions are a player overlay. Reels will not enable them for the muted impression.

    If the generate is silent, there is nothing to transcribe. Add a voice first, or author an overlay you actually wrote. Transcribing silence produces an empty track and a false sense of being done.

    If the generate has native audio and the line is wrong, do not caption the wrong line. Replace the audio or regenerate. Captioning a baked mistake teaches the mute viewer the mistake.

    Crop before you caption. Captioning 16:9 and then punching into 9:16 puts the line in the chrome. Duration lock matters too. A later trim on burned type means recaptioning the whole file.

    This list is for an upload. You already have the MP4. You are not prompting a second generate. You are finishing.

    The six apps

    1. CapCut. Start here if you already finish social in CapCut. Import the generated clip, run auto captions, restyle, export 9:16. The AI video generator will also animate a still, which is a different job. This page only needs the door: a file in, words on, MP4 out, in the editor you already know. CapCut does not publish a public dollar table (capcut.com/pricing 404 on 20 September 2026). Independent 2026 reads (SocialRails, 18 July 2026) put Pro at $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year. Official help (2 April 2026) lists auto captions on Pro. Stay when the generate is one more clip on a timeline that also needs jumps, a hook overlay, and an export preset. Leave when you needed a locked family, or when the default bounce would make a generated talking head look like every other faceless Reel.

    2. VEED. Open VEED when the generate is a web file and you want a transcript you can edit as copy. Official help (auto subtitles, read 20 September 2026) is upload, pick the spoken language, Auto-subtitle, fix low-confidence (orange) words, style, then toggle Burn Subtitles at export. Detect Speakers is Pro or higher. Translation is a different switch and spends AI credits. PulseSignal's read of veed.io/pricing (13 September 2026) puts Creator at $12 per user per month billed annually ($147 a year) with unlimited auto subtitles, Pro at $22 ($265 a year) with brand kits and 50+ language translation. VEED will accept a generated MP4 the same way it accepts a phone clip. It does not care that nobody shot it. It does care that speech exists. A silent Kling take will not magically grow a transcript.

    3. OpusClip. Open OpusClip when the "generated clip" is actually a long generate, a webinar-shaped bake, or a YouTube URL you want cut into captioned shorts. OpusClip pricing (read 20 September 2026) lists Free at $0, Starter at $15 a month, Pro at $29 a month, Business custom. Free includes animated caption templates with a watermark, multi-language transcription, and 9:16 reframe. Starter removes the watermark. Pro adds custom fonts (up to 2), more ratios, and a scheduler. OpusClip is a clipper first. Captions ride along. If you already have a locked 8-second Veo take, you do not need a virality score. You need a burn. Use OpusClip when the generate is too long and the job is "find the moment, caption it, post it." Do not pay a clipper seat to typeset one short file you already trimmed.

    4. Versely. Versely sits here because the generate often already lives on the same bill as the caption pass. You ran Veo 3.1, or a silent row plus TTS, and you still need type. The AI caption generator transcribes speech in 165 language codes and burns a look. Add captions to a video is the same family of work: 21 BASIC looks at 1×, 9 DYNAMIC at 2×.     5. Submagic. Open Submagic when the generated talking head should look like a feed template, not like a subtitle track. Submagic pricing (20 September 2026) is Starter $19 a month monthly ($12 yearly) for 15 videos, Pro $39 ($23 yearly) for 40, Business $69 ($41 yearly) for 100. The AI caption page claims 123 languages and 35+ word-by-word animation templates. Upload the generate. Pick a bounce. Export. Submagic also sells B-roll, auto-zoom, and eye contact. Those are extra. This page only needs the caption burn on a file you did not shoot. If the generate already has native audio and a face, eye contact correction is a different product decision. Do not stack it because the caption page mentioned it.

    6. Descript. Open Descript when the generate is mostly speech and you want to edit the video by editing the text. Descript pricing (read 20 September 2026, yearly toggle) lists Hobbyist at $16 per person per month (10 media hours, 400 AI credits), Creator at $24 (30 hours, 800 credits), Business at $50 (40 hours, 1,500 credits, Brand Studio, translation proofread). Free is 60 media minutes a month and a watermark on export. Dynamic captions are listed as unlimited on every tier, including Free. Multi-language transcription is 25 languages. Descript will import a generated talking-head the same way it imports a Zoom. Studio Sound will try to clean a bake that does not need cleaning. Underlord will offer cuts. If the file is an 8-second Veo and the words are already right, Descript is a large seat for a small burn. If the file is a 12-minute generated presenter you need to cut down, it is the right door.

    How to pick for a clip nobody shot

    Write the file in one sentence before you open an app.

    • "Eight-second Veo, already the cut, needs type": Versely or VEED or CapCut. One of those, not three.
    • "Silent generate, I still need words": add voice or overlay first. Then caption. Submagic will not invent speech.
    • "Long generate, I need shorts": OpusClip, then check the caption skin. Restyle if the default looks like every other clipper export.
    • "Mostly speech, I will cut in the transcript": Descript.
    • "I want the viral bounce on this talking bake": Submagic.

    Two apps is a finish stack. CapCut plus one generator covers a lot of weeks if you already live in CapCut. Versely covers generate-plus-caption on one bill. Six apps is how a file you did not shoot still costs six logins.

    Synthetic speech is not a waiver on names. Read the transcript. The model will say the price wrong. The captioner will typeset whatever it hears.

    After the burn

    Proof on a phone, muted. Generated faces sit tighter than phone UGC. Captions on the mouth hide the only visual evidence of speech. Safe area is chrome. Faces are a second keep-out.

    YouTube Shorts can overlay an AI label on photoreal generates. Leave that zone empty. Labels are not captions. They still cover type.

    Do not recrop after burn. Do not extend after burn. Captions are last among picture jobs.

    When the generate is locked and the job is a family, sign up and run the caption pass. When the generate still needs a timeline, stay in CapCut or Descript. The list is six apps. The file is one MP4.

    FAQ

    Does native audio skip captions?

    No. Native audio is a soundtrack. Mute autoplay does not play it. Burn the words. Sound-on is a bonus for people who unmute.

    Can I prompt Veo to draw the captions?

    You can. You should not. Painted letters are texture. You cannot fix a typo without regenerating the shot. Generate clean. Caption later.

    What if the generated clip has no speech?

    Skip transcription. Add TTS, or author an overlay. Running auto captions on silence wastes a pass and produces nothing you can post.
