TikTok is the platform that named it. After publish, Studio can flag a video as unoriginal: copied, minimally edited, watermarked by another app, or a slideshow/text-to-video that TikTok treats as low transformation. Creator Rewards only pays original videos over one minute; Duets and Stitches are excluded by rule, not by a close call on the score. The number itself is not public. The output is: eligible, or a flag.
The score is not a copyright verdict and it is not an AI detector. A clip you filmed can still flag if the edit is a caption-on-a-repost, if the file carries CapCut's or another app's watermark, or if the footage has already circulated on enough accounts that the match looks recycled. A generated clip you actually directed — your script, your product plates, your cut — can pass. A templated farm of near-identical avatars will not, labelled or not.
YouTube's inauthentic-content policy is the cousin, not the same instrument. YouTube writes the ban in policy language (mass-produced, repetitive, templated) rather than a per-video score. X's Original Content Rewards asks whether the post is original reporting, media you made, or commentary that adds something. The shared idea is that the payout formula has a originality gate in front of the view counter. Distribution can still happen on a low-scoring post. The cheque does not.
In practice
- Export clean. Another app's watermark is one of the loudest unoriginality signals.
- If Studio flags a video you actually made, appeal with the original project, not a second re-upload of the same file.
- Do not pad a 40-second idea to 61 seconds with recycled b-roll and expect the score to treat it as a new film.
The mistake to avoid
Treating an originality flag as a claim you stole the clip. It often means the transformation was too thin for the payout formula, not that the file is someone else's.

Content Rewards
Content Rewards are platform payout programmes that pay on qualified views or Home Timeline impressions of original posts — not on every public play.
Creativity Program
TikTok's Creativity Program pays eligible original videos. Labelled AI stays in; undisclosed AI can mean removal. The rate does not change with the label.
Inauthentic content
Inauthentic content is YouTube's policy against mass-produced, repetitive, templated uploads — the disqualifier for YPP hours, not a ban on AI as such.
Repost limit
A repost limit is how often a platform will let the same file, or a near copy, circulate before it throttles reach or drops Rewards.
Hook rate
Hook rate meaning: the share of people shown a video who are still watching a few seconds in. It grades the opening, not the body.
