    Repost limit meaning

Also called Duplicate detection, Reupload limit, Crosspost cap.

A repost limit is how often a platform will let the same file, or a near copy, circulate before it throttles reach or drops Rewards.

Every major feed now treats a second copy of a file as a different object from a new post. TikTok's originality score and duplicate detection will flag a reupload, a lightly recut export, or a file that still carries another app's watermark. YouTube's inauthentic-content policy is aimed at the farm of near-identical uploads, not at one recut. X's Original Content Rewards pays on original posts; a straight repost is not the unit. Cross-posting the same master to three apps is still normal. Cross-posting the same master to the same app three times is how you meet the limit.

The limit is not always a published integer. Sometimes it is a match against a hash, a perceptual fingerprint, or a watermark. Sometimes it is a human-readable rule: Rewards excludes Duets and Stitches; Photo Mode is out; ads do not qualify. The practical test is the same. If a detector could say 'I have seen this file,' do not expect the second copy to earn like the first.

Syndication is the honest version of the same idea: adapt the cut for each surface (ratio, caption, hook, length) so each upload is a new file with a new job. Content-repurposing is that adaptation done on purpose. A scheduler that fires the same MP4 at three times of day is a repost machine, and the limit is there for it.

    In practice

    • Export a new file per platform rather than downloading from one app and uploading to the next.
    • Change the hook, the ratio, or the caption track when you reuse a master — enough that it is a different watch.
    • Do not reupload a flagged file to 'reset' originality. The fingerprint is of the picture, not the post id.

    The mistake to avoid

Reading a reach drop on the second upload as an algorithm conspiracy. Duplicate detection did what the help page said it would.
