Map Sora 2 durations to Versely rows
Sora 2 T2V is 4/8/12/16/20s. Map those lengths to Veo 4/6/8, Seedance 4–15 or 4–30, Flux 3 5–20, Grok Imagine 6–30.
Sora 2 text-to-video is 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 seconds. Map those lengths to rows that survive the API cut: Veo 3.1 at 4 / 6 / 8, Seedance 2.0 at 4–15 or Seedance 2.5 at 4–30, Flux 3 T2V at 5–20, Grok Imagine Video at 6 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30. This is a duration map, not a brand review.
Sora 2 Text to Video still publishes 10 credits, native audio, 720p, those five durations. OpenAI’s Help Centre dates the Sora API discontinuation to 24 September 2026. After that date the length menu is useless if the endpoint is gone. Pick the living row by seconds first, then by audio and resolution.
The migration plan is the rebuild narrative. This page is only which duration bucket lands where.
Sora’s five lengths, and what they are not
Sora 2 T2V is not a slider. It is five ticks: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20. Native audio is on. Resolution on the Versely card is 720p. Credits on the card are 10. Do not import another host’s per-second USD into this map.
Sora 2 Pro Storyboard is a different duration set: 10 / 15 / 25 seconds, image-to-video, 30 credits, native audio. Do not put 25s on this T2V map. That row has its own replacement page.
What the five ticks are not:
- Not Veo’s menu. Veo 3.1 is 4 / 6 / 8 seconds, 40 credits, 4K, native audio. There is no 12, no 16, no 20 on that card.
- Not a 30-second pass. Seedance 2.5 and Grok Imagine Video can hold 30 seconds. Sora 2 T2V never did.
- Not silent. If you replace a 12-second Sora take with Kling 3 Turbo (12 credits, 3–15s, 1080p, audio false), you replaced duration and threw away native audio. That can be correct for a draft. It is not a duration-equivalent.
Write the Sora length on the brief before you pick a cousin. “About 15 seconds” is how a 16-second talking take becomes an 8-second Veo clip with a sentence cut in half.
Map each tick to a living row
4 seconds. Veo 3.1 (4s tick, 40 credits, 4K, native audio) if the job is dialogue or a 4K plate. Flux 3 T2V does not publish 4s; its floor is 5s. Grok Imagine Video’s floor is 6s. Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 both include 4s. Kling 3 Turbo includes 3s and 4s but is silent. A 4-second Sora hook that needed sound stays on a native-audio row: Veo, Seedance, or wait one second and run Flux 3 at 5s.
8 seconds. This is the overlap tick. Veo 3.1’s ceiling is 8s. Seedance 2.0 includes 8s at 1080p, 69 credits, native audio. Flux 3 T2V includes 8s at 9 credits, native audio. Grok Imagine Video does not publish 8s; its ticks are 6 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30. If you must stay at exactly 8s with native audio, Veo, Seedance 2.0 / 2.5, or Flux 3. If 10s is acceptable, Grok Imagine Video at 7 credits, 720p, native audio.
12 seconds. Veo cannot. Seedance 2.0 can (4–15s, 1080p, 69 credits). Seedance 2.5 can (4–30s, 720p, 47 credits). Flux 3 T2V can (5–20s, 9 credits). Kling 3 Turbo can (3–15s) if silent is allowed. Grok Imagine Video does not publish 12s; nearest native-audio ticks are 10s or 15s. For a 12-second Sora take you wanted as one file, Seedance 2.0 if you need 1080p, Flux 3 if you want the 9-credit native-audio band, Seedance 2.5 if you are willing to sit at 720p and might later grow the shot.
16 seconds. Veo cannot. Seedance 2.0 cannot (15s ceiling). Kling 3 Turbo cannot (15s ceiling). Flux 3 T2V can (5–20s). Seedance 2.5 can (4–30s, 720p). Grok Imagine Video can at 15s or 20s, not 16s. LTX 2.3 Fast can (6–20s, 4 credits, 4K, native audio) if the job is not a SKU lock. A 16-second Sora talking take is the first length that forces you off Veo and off Seedance 2.0.
20 seconds. Flux 3 T2V’s ceiling. Grok Imagine Video’s 20s tick (then 30s). Seedance 2.5 can, still 720p. LTX 2.3 Fast can. Veo cannot. Seedance 2.0 cannot. Kling 3 Turbo cannot. This is the Sora length people remember. It is also the length with the most honest replacements, as long as you do not demand Veo’s 4K dialogue job at 20 seconds.
Grok Imagine Video is 7 credits, 720p, native audio, 6 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30. Use it when the Sora length was 20s and the next brief might be 30s. Do not use it when you needed 8s exactly.
Flux 3 Text to Video is 9 credits, 5–20s, native audio. Black Forest Labs called Flux 3 Video generally available on 4 August 2026. On Versely it is the straight 5–20s native-audio band. That is the usual landing for 12 / 16 / 20s Sora T2V that was not a locked SKU and not a Veo-shaped talking close-up.
Seedance 2.5 is 47 credits, 4–30s, 720p, native audio. Use it when the action is one continuous hold past 15s and 720p is allowed. Seedance 2.0 is 69 credits, 4–15s, 1080p, native audio, and also reference-to-video. Use 2.0 when 15s at 1080p is enough and you might need refs.
Resolution and audio travel with the seconds
Duration is the first filter. It is not the only field.
Sora 2 T2V is 720p on the Versely card. Veo 3.1 is 4K. Flux 3 T2V’s catalog description goes up to 1080p; the credits field is 9. Seedance 2.0 is 1080p. Seedance 2.5 is 720p. Grok Imagine Video is 720p. LTX 2.3 Fast is 4K. Moving 20s of Sora to Veo is not a resolution upgrade. It is a length cut. Moving 8s of Sora to Veo is a resolution upgrade and a credit jump from 10 to 40.
Native audio is on for Sora 2 T2V. It is on for Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Flux 3 T2V, Grok Imagine Video, and LTX 2.3 Fast. It is false for Kling 3 Turbo. If the Sora take was talking, Turbo is a draft row, not a duration equivalent. If the Sora take was a silent-feeling b-roll that still had room tone, decide whether you want a new native bed or a silent plate plus Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS at 4 credits.
Do not average the credits into a “per second of Sora.” Ten credits on the Sora T2V card is the catalog sticker for that row. Forty credits on Veo is Veo. Nine on Flux 3 T2V is Flux 3. Seven on Grok Imagine Video is Grok. They are not a unit price you mix.
If the brief is UGC-shaped vertical talking, duration still wins over the word UGC. An 8-second talking clip can be Veo. A 20-second talking clip cannot. The UGC video generator does not change Veo’s 8-second ceiling.
How to write the brief so the map sticks
Put four numbers on the slate before anyone opens a prompt box:
- Seconds the file must be. Not “short.” A tick.
- Whether the current Sora file has speech you must keep as speech. If yes, native-audio row or a lipsync pass. If no, silent Turbo plus captions is legal.
- Whether 720p is acceptable. If no, you are off Grok Imagine Video and Seedance 2.5 for the hero, and you may be off Sora’s own 720p card for anything you still run before the 24th.
- Whether a still exists. Duration maps T2V. If the job was actually Pro storyboard, stop using this page.
Then pick one row. Do not run Veo and Flux 3 “to see” on the same 8-second line. Veo is the 4 / 6 / 8s 4K dialogue job. Flux 3 is the 5–20s native-audio job. Overlap at 8s is a choice, not a test harness.
If you must cover a 16-second Sora script that you refuse to cut, you are on Flux 3 T2V, Seedance 2.5, Grok Imagine Video at 15s or 20s, or LTX 2.3 Fast. You are not on Veo 3.1. Extending Veo is a different object: Veo 3.1 extend is 7 seconds at 720p, 40 credits, native audio — a continuation, not a 16-second single pass.
Caption after the length is right. Captions for silent autoplay repair viewing, not duration.
Run the mapped row from Versely.
FAQ
Can Veo 3.1 replace a 20-second Sora 2 clip?
Not as one generate. Veo 3.1 publishes 4 / 6 / 8 seconds. A 20-second Sora file maps to Flux 3 T2V (5–20s), Seedance 2.5 (4–30s at 720p), Grok Imagine Video (20s tick), or LTX 2.3 Fast (6–20s). Veo remain the 8-second-or-less dialogue/4K job.
Why isn’t Kling 3 Turbo on every length?
It covers 3–15 seconds at 12 credits, 1080p, but audio is false. It is a duration match for 4 / 8 / 12s only when you accept silence and add TTS or a later native-audio hero. It cannot take 16s or 20s.
Does this map include Sora 2 Pro Storyboard?
No. Storyboard is 10 / 15 / 25 seconds, image-to-video, 30 credits. Use Sora 2 Pro storyboard after the API for that row. This page is T2V ticks only.
