Wan 2.7 edit is not a new generate
Wan 2.7 video edit is 20 credits of instruction edit, not a new T2V. Change the take you have instead of rerolling identity.
Wan 2.7 Video Edit is 20 credits of instruction edit on a clip you already have. It is not a new text-to-video generate. Change the jacket, the label glare, the extra hand. Do not reroll identity and call the bill an edit.
The catalog card: category edit-video, audio null, durations 2s through 10s, credits 20, resolution unset. Description: modify a source video using prompts and an optional reference image for character, clothing, or style guidance. The source is required in practice. The still is optional. The prompt is a delta.
Wan 2.7 Text to Video is 16 credits, 2–15s, 1080p, audio null. That 16-credit generate will give you a new person, a new pack, a new room. Cheaper than 20, and the wrong object if the take was already a keeper. This page is the 4-credit premium for not throwing the keeper away.
Instruction edit versus identity reroll
An instruction edit names one change against a plate that should survive.
Legal instructions: “remove the extra finger on the left hand,” “change the jacket to the navy still,” “swap the background wall to the reference grey,” “hold the pack; kill the reflection on the cap.” The model is asked for a delta. Identity is the plate.
An identity reroll is a new T2V (or I2V) with a prompt that re-describes the whole commercial. “Cinematic hero of our serum in golden hour, slow orbit, premium, same vibe as last time.” Last time’s face will not come back. You will spend 16 credits to meet a cousin, then maybe 20 more trying to edit the cousin into the original. That stack is how teams burn a morning.
The test: if you would be angry to lose the current file, edit. If you would not ship the current file even after a perfect small change, generate. Editing a miss polishes a miss.
Twenty credits is the edit sticker. Sixteen is the T2V sticker. The edit is not “T2V plus four credits of quality.” It is a different category. I2V is also 16 credits and also a generate: it animates a still. R2V is 20 credits and also a generate: it builds from a stack, 2–10s. Same 20 as edit, opposite job. Do not confuse the two 20-credit Wan 2.7 rows.
Audio is null on the edit card, as on the 2.7 generate cards. Do not assume the source track is preserved. Do not assume a new native bed. Say what you want in the instruction and listen to the output. If the job needs catalog native audio true, you should not be on Wan 2.7 at all — Wan V2.6 Text to Video is 40 credits, 5 / 10 / 15s, 1080p, audio true, and that is still a generate, not an edit.
What the 2–10s window is for
Every integer second from 2s through 10s is listed. Match the source. A 10-second keeper edited as a 6-second job is a recut you did not ask for. A 4-second source prompted as a 10-second edit is how new seconds of invented identity leak in.
Ten seconds is the edit ceiling. If the source is a 15-second Wan 2.7 T2V, you cannot instruction-edit the whole file on this row. Trim to 10s or less, edit the part that is wrong, or accept a new generate for the full length.
Optional reference image: character, clothing, or style. One still. Not five. If you need a five-still stack, that is Wan 2.7 Reference to Video (20 credits, 2–10s, 1080p, audio null) — a generate from refs, not an edit of a take. Feeding a clothing still into edit is how you retint a jacket. Feeding a new location still into edit and asking for a new commercial is a reroll with extra steps.
Write the instruction like a camera assistant, not like a treatment:
- Subject stays.
- Named change.
- Named exclusions (“do not change the pack label,” “do not add a second person”).
- Duration equal to source.
If the instruction is longer than the shot, you are generating.
Compare to Gemini Omni Flash Edit: 50 credits, edit-video, audio false. Different family, also not a generate. If you are already on Wan picture, stay on Wan edit. Do not hop vendors to “see.” If you are already on Omni picture, use Flash Edit. The Omni Video vs Flash Edit page is that split.
When to pay 16 for a new T2V instead
Pay T2V when:
- The blocking is wrong. Edit will not restage a walk.
- The identity is already a cousin. You cannot edit your way to the approved face.
- You need 11–15 seconds of new motion. Edit stops at 10s; T2V goes to 15s.
- You have no source file, only a prompt. Edit has nothing to bite.
Pay I2V (16 credits) when the still is right and no clip exists yet. Edit cannot invent a take from a still. That is image-to-video.
Pay R2V (20 credits) when you have a stack and no clip, or when the clip is so wrong the stack should start over.
Pay edit (20 credits) when the clip is the one you would keep if one named thing moved.
A common Sora hangover is to regenerate everything on a new family because the vendor died. If you exported a keeper, you may only need an instruction edit on that file — or you may only need captions. Add captions to video is not Wan 2.7 edit. Do not spend 20 credits to “add subtitles” with a video model.
Another hangover is to treat every small note from review as a full reroll. “Make the wall less warm” is an edit. “Make it more premium” is a generate, and a vague one.
The T2V vs I2V vs R2V page is how to pick a generate. This page is how to refuse a generate.
After the edit, inspect identity again
If the jacket changed and the face drifted, you did not get an edit. You got a cheap morph. Stop. Either tighten the instruction and exclude the face, or go back to the source and generate a new clip from the still that actually holds.
If the pack lettering slipped, stop. SKU work that has to hold may not belong on a null-audio 10-second edit. Seedance 2.0 R2V is 97 credits, 4–15s, 1080p, native audio. That is the identity family when the pack is the brief. Wan 2.7 edit can still fix a glare on a pack that already held. It cannot rescue a pack that never held.
If the output is fine, caption and ship. Audio null does not exempt a photoreal clip from disclosure where Article 50 applies. Use the Article 50 disclosure template on the file you upload, edited or not.
Do not chain five edits to avoid one honest generate. The second edit on a drifted first edit is identity reroll with a worse plate.
When the source is a keeper, run the instruction edit from Versely.
FAQ
Is Wan 2.7 video edit cheaper than generating again?
The stickers are 20 credits to edit, 16 to T2V or I2V. Edit is not the cheaper bill. It is the bill that keeps the plate. If you wanted cheaper and you can throw the plate away, generate. If the plate is the asset, 20 is the point.
Can I use edit to make a 15-second clip from a 6-second source?
No. The listed window is 2–10s. Lengthening a clip into a new scene is a generate or an extend row on another family. Edit is a delta inside the window.
Does the original soundtrack survive?
Audio is null on the catalog row. Do not assume preservation and do not assume a new native track. State the audio intent in the instruction and check the file.
