Does my TikTok need an AI label?

Creativity Program: labelled AI is eligible at the same rate. Skip the built-in label and the clip can be removed or the account suspended.

If you want the TikTok Creativity Program to pay an AI clip, use TikTok's built-in AI label. Labelled AI content is eligible and pays the same rate. Undisclosed AI can mean removal or program suspension. This page is that eligibility check. It is not the realism essay about when the AIGC badge fires on captions, and it is not the program-terms post about the 60-second clock.

This page draws on SocialScale Hub's 2026 academy recap of TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube disclosure rules, Vexub's 2026 monetization-policy recap, and Fliki's 25 August 2026 monetization note. Together they say: AI content is eligible for the Creativity Program if the built-in AI label is used; undisclosed AI can mean removal or program suspension; labelled AI pays the same rate. The label is not a ranking penalty; unoriginal, templated content is. None of these sources publishes a different rate for labelled posts.

The program question, not the realism essay

Two TikTok questions get walked in the same upload and they are not the same walk.

Does this picture need TikTok's AIGC label because a reasonable viewer would take it as unedited reality? That is a Community Guidelines trigger. TikTok's AIGC label fires on realism, not on captions. Captions, scripts, colour, and crop are not that trigger. A photoreal generated face is.

Does this account need the built-in AI label on this post for the Creativity Program to treat the post as eligible AI content? That is a money trigger. It is the one this page answers. The program does not pay you extra for disclosing. It can stop paying you, or stop carrying the post, if you skip the disclosure the program is written around.

If you are not in the Creativity Program — live in the US terms as the Creator Rewards Program, formerly Creativity Program Beta — this page is still the eligibility check you will need the week you get in. Shop commission and a brand cheque are different counterparties. They have their own disclosure paths. Do not run a Shop clip through this checker and call the program satisfied.

The AI content label is the platform toggle. The Article 50 duty is the legal one, and it follows an EU audience rather than a TikTok login. You can need both. This checker only returns the program answer.

Walk the post as a short list. Stop when a line tells you to stop.

    1. Is the file AI-generated or significantly AI-edited in the picture or the voice — a photoreal person, a photoreal scene, a synthetic voice that could pass as a recording — rather than a camera original with type on it?
    2. Are you posting it to an account that is in, or trying to stay in, the Creativity Program?
    3. Did you (or will you) apply TikTok's built-in AI label in the posting flow, rather than a hashtag or a caption aside?

If 1 is no, this checker returns "not for program reasons." You may still have other rules. If 1 is yes and 2 is no, the program is not the reason to label, but removal for undisclosed realistic AIGC is still on the Community Guidelines. If 1 and 2 are yes and 3 is no, the program answer is: label it or accept removal and possible suspension. If all three are yes, the program treats the clip as eligible AI content at the same rate.

When the built-in label is the eligibility switch

"Built-in" is doing work. The wording in these sources is the built-in AI label, not a creative caption, not #AIgenerated, not a C2PA manifest you hope TikTok will read.

TikTok's posting flow is the toggle: Post → More options → AI-generated content. Creator Academy's helper text tells viewers the content was generated or edited with AI. Use that control. SocialScale Hub's 2026 recap, drawing on TikTok's own newsroom history, notes that TikTok reads C2PA Content Credentials on upload and can apply an "AI-generated" label itself when those credentials are present, or when you used a TikTok AI effect. Once an auto-label is on a post, you cannot take it off.

Auto-label is a second path. It is not a plan. A file whose manifest died on a re-encode still needs the toggle if the picture is realistic and synthetic. A file whose manifest survived will get the label whether you wanted it or not. For program eligibility, self-apply. Detection that fires after the fact can still label the post and still leave you on the wrong side of "undisclosed" for the window before it fired.

Vexub's 2026 recap of TikTok's rules points the same way: the platform's official label is the one the money path is built on, and creators who consistently fail to label AI content face account restrictions. Fliki (25 August 2026) is looser on TikTok than on YouTube and still lands on "labelled when it could realistically mislead." Do not take Fliki's softer TikTok paragraph as a Creativity Program waiver. The program rule above is stricter and is the one this checker uses.

    What the switch is not:

    • It is not a ranking penalty. TikTok has said adding the label does not affect distribution of a video. SocialScale Hub (2026) repeats that an honest label is not a published ranking penalty on TikTok. Viewers can ask to see less AIGC in Manage Topics; that is an audience filter, not a program rate cut.
    • It is not a different RPM. Vexub's recap says TikTok pays AI content at the same rate when the official label and originality conditions are met.
    • It is not Article 50. A perceivable on-file line for an EU viewer is a separate walk. Does this cut need an Article 50 label? is that walk.

If the clip is a camera original and the only model in the timeline wrote the caption, this checker returns no. Do not false-label a real talking head because you used auto captions. The program is not asking for a generic "I used a tool" sticker. It is asking whether AI content is disclosed with the control the program recognises.

What happens if you skip it

The consequence, as these sources put it, is short: undisclosed AI can mean removal or program suspension.

Read that as two stacked outcomes, not a sequence you get to pick.

Removal. The post can come down. Community Guidelines already allow removal or restriction of unlabelled realistic AIGC. The program does not need a separate theory to take the post off the For You feed.

Program suspension. The account can lose Creativity Program standing. That is the money outcome. Getting back in, if the terms even allow it after a suspension, is a different clock from the 10,000-follower / 100,000-views bars you cleared to join.

Vexub (2026) describes a harsher operational picture — automated detection, human review, and a streak of unlabelled AI videos leading to reach cuts and paused earnings. Those extra details are Vexub's recap, not part of the rule summarised above. This checker stays with the rule: removal or program suspension is the stated risk. Do not wait for a three-strike cartoon. One unlabelled photoreal post is already the wrong side of the rule.

What skipping the label does not do, in any of these sources: it does not raise your rate. There is no "undisclosed AI bonus." The folk theory that the badge suppresses the file is the thing the AI label is not a reach penalty already killed. Originality is the remaining knife. A labelled slideshow of someone else's stills can still fail the program's original-content review. An unlabelled original you actually made can still come down for non-disclosure. You need the label and a clip that is yours.

    Same rate, different standing

Eligibility at the same rate is the sentence people skip.

Labelled AI content is not a second-class Creativity Program tier in these sources. The program does not publish a discounted RPM for generated faces. Unoriginal, templated content is the actual penalty across platforms; the recaps are explicit that the label is not a ranking penalty on TikTok, YouTube, or Meta.

So the checker has a boring happy path. If the picture is AI and you are in the program: apply the built-in label, keep the runtime and originality rules of the program, and do not expect a different per-view number because a model rendered the frames. Creativity Program AI-label rule is the program-side write-up of that sentence. This page is only the per-clip check.

If you generate the talking head in Versely's UGC video generator or another row, the export is not labelled for TikTok. The posting flow is. Burn a first-exposure line into the file if EU viewers will take the person as real — that is Article 50, not the program — and still flip TikTok's toggle. Two marks, two jobs. If you need a studio seat to put the on-file line on before you open TikTok, sign up.

A stitch or a duet of someone else's work is an originality fail for the program regardless of the AI toggle. This checker does not rescue a repost.

    FAQ

If TikTok auto-labels from C2PA, am I eligible?

You are labelled, which is what the program wants to see. You are not in control of the wording, and you cannot take the auto-label off. Self-apply anyway so a re-encode that stripped the manifest does not leave you undisclosed. Eligibility is the built-in label being present, not a particular prose style.

Do captions or scripts force the Creativity Program label?

No. Captions and scripts are not the picture. The realism post is the trigger for the Community Guidelines badge; this checker uses the same picture test and then asks whether the program needs that badge for eligibility. A camera original with burned-in type is not AI content for this purpose. A generated presenter with the same type still is.

Does an Article 50 overlay replace TikTok's toggle?

No. Article 50 is a perceivable disclosure for an EU audience. The Creativity Program wants TikTok's own control. Stack them. The overlay can survive a download. The toggle is what the program's reviewer sees in TikTok's UI.
