Your files never leave your device
Free to use, with no account, no usage limit and no watermark, because the work runs on your device rather than on our servers.
This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your upload. There is no upload. The file you choose is read into memory by your own browser, processed there, and handed back as a download — the tool has no server component and makes no network request with your data.
- Nothing is stored. We never receive the file, so there is no copy to retain, no retention period to disclose, and nothing to delete on request.
- Nothing is transmitted. No upload endpoint, no analytics payload carrying file contents, no third-party processor.
- You can verify it. Load this page, disconnect from the internet, and use the tool. It still works, because everything it needs is already on your machine.
- Nothing persists after you close the tab. Files are held in page memory only — not in local storage, not in a cache, not in a database.
A note on wording, because it matters: we do not describe these tools as “encrypted.” Encryption protects data that travels to somebody else's computer. Your file does not travel, so there is nothing to encrypt and nothing to intercept — which is a stronger guarantee than encryption, not a weaker one. The page itself is served over HTTPS like the rest of the site.
This makes the tools safe for material you are contractually barred from uploading to third-party services — client footage under NDA, unreleased campaign assets, anything covered by a confidentiality clause.
How it works
1. Add your post
Paste the caption, add up to 10 images or grab a frame from a video, and set the name, handle and avatar. A YouTube title field is there for video posts.
2. Pick a platform
Switch between seven platforms, light and dark. Instagram has feed frames (4:5, 1:1, 3:4, 1.91:1) and the 3:4 profile grid; YouTube has the feed card and Shorts.
3. Read the cut
Under the preview you see the visible part of your caption, the hidden part, the official hard limit with its source, and how much of the image the feed crops.
4. Download the PNG
Save the mock as a 1170 px wide PNG to share with a client or teammate. It carries an approximate-preview label.
Questions
Where does Instagram cut a caption before "more"?
Instagram does not publish it. In the feed the caption starts with your handle and is cut after about two lines, so the number of characters depends on screen width, the words you use and your line breaks. This tool wraps your caption at a 390 px phone width with your device's system font and shows the result. Meta's ads guide gives 125 characters for Instagram feed primary text, which is a useful target but not the organic rule.
Which numbers are official and which are approximate?
Official, with sources linked in the tool: Instagram captions up to 2,200 characters and feed photos from 1.91:1 to 3:4, X's 280 weighted characters, LinkedIn posts up to 3,000 characters, YouTube titles up to 100 characters and 16:9 thumbnails, Threads posts up to 500 characters. Approximate: every "more" cut point, the profile grid crop, and the feed crop ranges on X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Threads, because those platforms do not document them. Each is labelled in the tool.
Why does a line break use up so much of the preview?
Feeds cut by lines, not characters. A blank line between paragraphs is a whole line, so a caption that opens with a short sentence and a gap can lose half its visible text on Instagram or LinkedIn. Put the hook in the first line with no break before it.
How is the image crop worked out?
The tool compares your image's ratio with the frame each feed uses and crops from the centre: your chosen frame on Instagram, 3:4 tiles on the profile grid, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails, 9:16 for TikTok and Shorts. It then tells you what share of the height or width is cut. Collages for several images on X, Facebook and LinkedIn are approximate layouts.
Is this the real app interface?
No. The mocks are drawn from scratch with generic icons and neutral colours, carry no platform logos, and are not affiliated with any of the platforms. Apps change their layout often and differ between phones, so check the live post after publishing.
Are my images and caption uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and drawn on a canvas in your browser, and the PNG is made on your device. Nothing leaves it.
