This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your upload. There is no upload. The file you choose is read into memory by your own browser, processed there, and handed back as a download — the tool has no server component and makes no network request with your data.
- Nothing is stored. We never receive the file, so there is no copy to retain, no retention period to disclose, and nothing to delete on request.
- Nothing is transmitted. No upload endpoint, no analytics payload carrying file contents, no third-party processor.
- You can verify it. Load this page, disconnect from the internet, and use the tool. It still works, because everything it needs is already on your machine.
- Nothing persists after you close the tab. Files are held in page memory only — not in local storage, not in a cache, not in a database.
A note on wording, because it matters: we do not describe these tools as “encrypted.” Encryption protects data that travels to somebody else's computer. Your file does not travel, so there is nothing to encrypt and nothing to intercept — which is a stronger guarantee than encryption, not a weaker one. The page itself is served over HTTPS like the rest of the site.
This makes the tools safe for material you are contractually barred from uploading to third-party services — client footage under NDA, unreleased campaign assets, anything covered by a confidentiality clause.
How it works
1. Drop a photo
JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC up to 40 MB. It is decoded in this tab and never uploaded.
2. Remove the background, or skip it
The on-device model downloads once (about 98 MB with WebGPU, 192 MB without) and is shared with our background remover. Crop and ring only needs no download. Stop works at any time.
3. Style and frame
Pick a colour, gradient, blurred photo or your own background, add a ring or outline, and drag the preview to position yourself. Small previews show how it reads at feed and comment size.
4. Export per platform
Choose Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Discord, Twitch or a custom size, as PNG or JPEG, or download all eight sizes as a ZIP.
Questions
What size should a profile picture be?
It depends on the platform, and not all of them publish a number. From their own help pages (checked September 2026): YouTube recommends 800 x 800 px and shows it at 98 x 98; X recommends 400 x 400 px, up to 2 MB; Facebook asks for 320 x 320 px and shows it at 176 px on computers and 196 px on phones; LinkedIn accepts 400 x 400 up to 7680 x 4320 px, up to 8 MB; Twitch lists 256 x 256 px, up to 10 MB. Instagram, TikTok and Discord publish no profile photo size, so the tool exports 1080, 1080 and 512 px and labels those as recommended by us.
Why is the export square when profile pictures are circles?
Every platform in the list crops the square you upload into a circle itself, so a square is what they expect. The ring and the framing are drawn inside that circle, so nothing important lands in the corners. Pick Circle PNG when you need a round image with transparent corners, for example in slides or an email signature.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is decoded, cut out and composited inside this browser tab. The only download is the open background removal model from Hugging Face on first use, about 98 MB where WebGPU is available and 192 MB otherwise. It is then cached in your browser and shared with our background remover, so you download it once.
Can I make a circle profile picture without removing the background?
Yes. Choose Crop and ring only: your photo stays as it is and you get the circle framing, drag to position, zoom, the optional ring and the platform sizes. It downloads no model, so it works straight away on slow connections.
Which model removes the background, and can I use the result commercially?
BiRefNet-lite (studioludens/birefnet-lite-512 on Hugging Face), released under the MIT licence, run through the Apache-2.0 @bg0/browser library with WebGPU or WebAssembly. The licence covers the model; the picture you make is yours. Fine hair against a busy background is the hardest case, so check the edges in the preview before you export.
What does 'Let the head overlap the ring' do?
It draws the top half of your cut-out over the ring, so your head appears to break out of the frame, a popular look for creator avatars. It stays inside the platform's circle crop, so it survives the upload. It needs the background removed first.
